tank issues

so i recently installed new rims and tires and just happen to peek over at the tank and noticed one of the straps is broken.
so my question is, i've been having gauge issues where the reading is off and can't fill up all the way.
now i'm wondering if the strap would cause this issue if the tank is leaning or if the sending unit is messed up??? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on which strap is broken, it very well could be the cause of your issues.

If you do have a strap broken, I recommend replacing it ASAP and might as well do the rest while you're there.

Your tank skid is holding up the fuel tank if you have a strap broken. And I doubt its the cause of your fuel tank gauge issue, the tank shouldn't be tilted very much and I would imagine the sender would at least 'read' full whether or not the tank is actually full after a fillup.

Ya it’s not fun being paranoid about the gas gauge so changing the sending unit when I take it down to replace the straps. Any other hoses or stuff I should change while I have the tank down??

I didn't drop the tank to replace the straps on mine, just did one at a time. I'm also doubtful the strap is your issue unless you are having a wiring issue because of it moving around.
