Calling all V8 owners that want a high flow Y-pipe!!! I can do it. Need your help!
Forgive my ignorance, because I’m not actually trying to be a dick here. But why wouldn’t someone just go to an exhaust shop and have them weld in a Y-Pipe? I had my exhaust shop give me true dual exhaust for $250. I can only imagine a y-pipe or gutted cats would’ve cost the same, even with new piping. Just curious if this is what you’re trying to accomplish or if you’re looking for something just bolt on?
Even if you just buy some high flow cats and weld them on, wouldn’t that have the same effect for a little cheaper? I can only imagine a set of DT Y-Pipes are going to cost a pretty penny.

And I'd never call you that.
Because people overcharge for this. I've had numerous customers tell me shops was $400-$550+. I've sold now over 60 sets of these headers specifically for 03-09 v8's and this is the consensus. These will be much neater, mandrel bent (tubing will stay same size in bends, etc) Trust me, if people didn't keep asking about it, then I wouldn't even entertain it. It's about a 80% chance I receive a call after someone gets headers from me asking for a y pipe because so many places just charge a lot. Even recently another guy's shop made a set with dinky tubing, defeating the purpose. I'm only reporting what people are telling me and they'd like an all-in-one stop solution. And others have said the shop going the headers doesn't want to do the y pipe, so then they have to go to another place and only do 1 thing there. I also have many people that already installed the headers and kept the stock pipe for now and are waiting for these...
After these are done, someone can then order headers and a y-pipe at the same time which will also make things easier.

There isn't a good exhaust shop anywhere near me and a lot can be said for bolting it on in your garage yourself.
But yeah, there are other options and some of them are better for some people. The factory piping is dual-walled, so smaller than it looks, at the crossover so I doubt a high-flow cat by itself would do much good.

For sure! I just wasn’t sure if I was missing something here. Haha. But I agree! And
@ Inv4drZm
is totally right, too. Not a lot of good exhaust shops around a lot of people, and being able to bolt it on yourself goes a long way, especially when you like doing the work yourself. Didn’t think about that before I opened my big mouth.
You might be talking me into buying one now

Boom! Good deal. Anyone else that hasn't, do it.
Also, if you're looking to do the headers, I recommend getting them now, even if you don't plan to install for a while. DT has a price increase in a few months and these will be going UP IN PRICE again, but right now the price is NICE./

Yes, thanks to you guys, it's going to be made. It's going to be a few months though for design, production, etc, etc.

Yep, all good. And for those that have and install their headers now, you will be able to get this Y pipe later.. . Many have installed the headers and kept the stock Y pipe in place, which is fine, as before there wasn't an affordable option for a Y pipe.
I still suggest ordering the headers sooner than later before the next price increase.

Good deal, ALSO, I have the Gibson Catbacks on sale, right now and the Sprint booster. You'll want to look into these, the Gibson is a killer deal for a few more days.
Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, On Sale right now for T4r.org members! -Still a some in stock, grab while you can.
Gibson 4th gen Exhaust at Burtman Industries, sale ends 9/30!
Single/dual options. Dual sounds even more like a v8, no joke!
In 2019 all Gibson systems are going up 15% in price for every dealer! So prices will never be this low again
See my post here with many that have the exhaust and their feedback and comments:

URD already offers a Y-pipe for the 4th gen. What would the difference be between theirs and the proposed design?

Why is the URD Y-pipe only for 05-09? MagnaFlow makes a Y-pipe also.

Sorry for the delay, got behind. I don't have all the info yet, but all the people I've sold the headers to, over 50 sets, about 90% have asked why doesn't DT have a Y pipe. People want to order one to match their headers, so that's how this whole post started. DT wasn't going to make them, but said if I got them 20+ people they'd design and develop them and the price will be very nice.
I can also get you guys that Magnaflow Y pipe, but I forget why it hasn't been that popular? Or maybe people don't know about it? I know this one will be much much LARGER, but for those who can't wait, or don't wan to keep the stock Y pipe, I can get ya the Magnaflow Y in the meantime.

So will welding still need to be required to install the Doug Thorley headers to the y-pipe?
If they ever came out with flanged connections on the headers and y-pipe, I would buy both...
