Looked at various threads, but nothing exactly like what I'm looking at.
I ordered a switch that fits the slot on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The light bar is wired to the battery power and through a relay to the light. On the other side of the relay I have three wires (black, blue, white) going through the firewall and under the dash. The switch has two red, green, black.
Best I can tell I need to connect black to black for the ground, red to blue, green to white, and the second red from the switch to an under dash wire that is on when headlights are on.
If I wire both red wires to the relay will the light be on whenever the switch is on?
One pair of wires on the switch is for the LED, the other pair is actually the switch to control the relay.
Instead of looking at colors or guessing, I would just check to see whats what with a multimeter (continuity function).
You can control the switch LED many different ways, it's all in how you wire it... personally I would just wire it to the dash lights so they toggle on/off with the rest of the trucks dash.
If you want the LED on when the light is on, wire the input of the LED, to the 12+v output of the switch that feeds the relay.
