Coated Brake Claipers

Has anybody tried any kind of factory coated calipers? Specifically the ones from NAPA? I am switching of to 5th gen brakes soon and am trying to pick a caliper that I don't have to paint to keep rust away. Due to certain physical limitations I am trying to have to do as little work as possible while still changing the brakes myself. Been doing my own for decades so the knowledge is there just not the options I have now. Thanks!

Check rockauto.com they also have coated ones. I cant see any negative to it. for front calipers check out the 5th gen caliper swap. Maybe throw a coat of caliper paint on them for extra layer protection

Are those front calipers? It seems everywhere I look I can only find rears. What is the pros/cons of a slotted rotor? Mine is a mostly street queen so I am not too worried about mud buildup. It seems that what I am looking for in a calipers jusr does not exist. 5th get conversation with black coated calipers...

@Ruthven13 I don't think the slotted rotors are as big a problem as the drilled are for people who offroad frequently. It makes sense if the holes fill with mud and then you get don't get heat dissipation like you should and possible scoring of your rotors from the dirt getting between the pad and rotor? So drilled AND slotted would be the double whammy? I have the drilled & slotted Power Stop on my 5th with never an issue but IH8MUD and don't go through much of it anyway.
For some reason searching for the right calipers is a PIA, at least for me anyway. I plug in the make and model on amazon, click on the search listings, and then it tells you this part doesn't fit. Well why did I just plug in my make and model and the website lists parts that don't fit? I just purchased Centric 5th gen front calipers and power stop pads for my 4th gen. When it came to 4th gen rear calipers I have read that the 5th gen version might cause a fitment issue with E-brake components and they aren't really an upgrade anyway. Apparently trying to piece these parts together and not buying a full kit is somewhat taboo for the innerweb. Took me 30 minutes to cross reference 4th gen rear caliper part numbers from Centrics website and get amazon to show me those Centric offerings. Then it took me another 20 minutes to get Amazon to show me Powerstop rear pads as a stand alone item. I guess my search parameters are flawed. Or maybe Im is Puter illiterate.

Thank you for the info guys. Anyone have issues returning a 4th gen core for a 5th gen caliper? I read the whole huge thread on the conversion but a lot of the info is old. The calipers mentioned seem to fit the bill. I don't want to paint so that would be perfect...

I recently replaced my calipers. Pep Boys is a good place to look for caliper replacements because they frequently run a 25% discount on any online purchases.

I also returned my cores and worn down rotors to them to get my core charge back. Wish I had known about the 5th gen upgrade prior to doing this but wouldn't be too upset if i had to replace the calipers in the near future.

Again thanks for the links. It just seems that coated front 5th gen calipers do not exist online. Maybe time to start making phone calls. I just REALLY don't want to paint them myself. How can this be possible that they are so hard to find? Lack of cores from people replacing them?

I just looked on Rokauto and they list a red coated PowerStop front caliper but do not say what side. I would prefer black but will take what I can get. The NAPA Total Eclipse would be nice but again still no 5th gen front. I hat having to call. That is what the internet is for!

I noticed that most people recommend NAPA or Rockauto replacement caliper. Have not seen anyone suggesting the Toyota caliper. Is the genuine Toyota caliper new vs remanufactured from the others? Would they last longer? My original caliper lasted me 7 years (45K miles) and replaced it with a reman that lasted me less than 2 years (8K miles). The price of the original is 3X more but also last 3x longer

I bought fifth gen calipers from rockauto....refunded my fourth gen cores, no problem. Can't remember which ones I bought, but I had to paint them. PITA for sure.

Did my 5th gen brakes last year. Got them from RockAuto as well, but I got G4 caliper paint and painted them. Be warned: Coat them well or rust will peak through. I have some rusty spots, but that is probably due to me painting them silver. (I like my sh** stock). Anyway, not a huge deal, looking back, I should have DOUSED them with paint.
