Bleeding Brakes

Hey guys,

So after a very long and frustrating day (6+ hours) of changing my front brake rotors and pads I’m now left with bleeding them next.
Long sorry short, my driver side caliper froze after the rotor and pad installation causing me to have to purchase a new one, ended up receiving the wrong part, took it back, had to get the right one, go back and put it on. Just a long day, and now my brake pedal is very spongy.

So, my question is, when bleeding the brakes on my ‘05 SR5, do y’all put a board or anything underneath the brake pedal so it does not go all the way down to the floor? I’ve heard it done both ways, with and without a board to stop the pedal. Just wanted some recommendations!

I didn't do that when I had to bleed the left front side after a brake line broke, but I was on the side of the road in a parking lot and needed it done so I could get back on the road and had nothing to put under the pedal and a stranger helping me who had no clue as to what he was doing and tried his best to follow my instructions and he keep pushing the pedal all the way to the floor but I was VERY HAPPY to have him helping, it had no ill affect on the brakes but it's best to errr on the side of caution, so I would do it if I were you.

I use a Motive pressure bleeder, so it's a one man job and no pushing the pedal involved.
Solves both your problems.

I've never used a board or anything underneath the pedal, but I've also never pushed the pedal all the way to the floor.

It’s a lot easier to get the fluid out of there if you key the ignition to key position 2. I’m guessing the brake assist is electronic on these trucks. Just make sure to keep the master cylinder full.

Thanks for everyone’s help. Bled them this morning with my dad pressing the brake. Has some air bubbles in there but it’s all solved now! First time doing it and I’m sure not my last. Rear brakes next! Pray those calipers don’t seize up on me haha
