Steering Wheel Shimmy

I’m having a problem with my steering wheel that I’m hoping y’all can help with.

When I purchased my ‘05 V8 in October of 2017, I noticed that around 60-65-70mph I was getting a shimmy on the steering wheel. Figured the tires needed to be rebalanced, so I did so and it was still persistent. I needed tires anyways so I ended up just purchasing new tires a week or so after the rebalance. After replacing the tires, I’m still noticing the issue. I’ve done the alignment and rebalanced the tires a few times but the issue still comes back. Any idea what it could be?

Just a side note, I checked Toyota service history on the vehicle besides the CARFAX, I saw that they took it into a local dealer here in town and stated they were getting a shimmy on the steering wheel as well. The notes on the service didn’t say much besides the previous owner had gotten the tires rebalanced multiple times.

I’m stumped.

Does the rebalancing help every time? I have been battling shimmies as well. I've been jumping between balancing and bad calipers for the last year. Check to see if your caliper pistons are starting to get sticky - they can cause a wobble and also warp your rotors if it's especially bad. I recently had a good stretch for about 1 month with rebalanced tires before my calipers failed and warped my rotors... It's been a battle.

The rebalance doesn’t really help a lot. If it does it’s very mild. I just replaced both calipers on the front side as well as both rotors and brake pads about a week ago. I started thinking this could be it too, but to no avail :/

If i were a betting man and nothing else is worn out, probably worth it to try wheel bearings.

Might be right. I'm starting to wonder if that is becoming my issue as well. At 180,000 miles and most likely stock bearings.
