Interior grey trim/bezels color code?? Anyone figured it out?
I’ve searched for a long time and I don’t think anyone ever figured out the exact color to touch up scratches in the Grey (Stone??) 4th gen interior.
I found a thread that says “Rustoleum universal (not just for metal) satin nickel“ is a 95% match.
I tried 1D4/Titanium Metallic, and it’s too shiny. Not even close.
I’m wanting to touch up the silver/gray area where the transmission indicators are and the sides of that area, the console. Two large scratches are there.
I can’t vinyl wrap it, I have read that stuff doesn’t work well in cold climates. I’m in Wisconsin, so that’s out.
Has anyone figured it out a touch up code that works?
May have to go to a body shop, as a last resort if not.

Not sure what part of the interior you're referring to specifically, but could you remove a piece of the trim that matches and take it into a store and have them color match it for you, using one of the paint machines? Just a thought.

I had it in the back of my mind to use this stuff at some point, in black.
Redo all the silver that has been scratched up over the years.
VHT Wrinkle paint to help hide the deeper gouges.

Good grief the spelling correction is fighting me today.

Would you have to get adhesion promoter so it would stick?
I figured it will still scratch off, why I just want to touch up the areas that are blatant.
The 4runner is 15 years old, after all.
Very interesting idea. That stuff is tough as hell, I have heard.

I have not done it.
Was thinking a slight sandpaper scuff-up...no turning back at that point.
Then a good wipe down with 99% isopropyl.
A couple spots I have would need a sanding and some body filler to look good all smooth and shinny.

Not sure if you would want to do this but after not being able to find touch up paint for it I ended up just repainting all the trim to match the sport edition. Here were the results. I used a 2K clearcoat in a can, rustoleum Carbon mist metallic.

That looks really good! I have some scratches that really bug me in the silver trim, and was considering just going with a darker charcoal type color, so it’s nice to get a preview of how it would look. Like the OP, I can’t seem to find a good match for the original silver anyway.

Thanks! and that was my issue as well and once I looked closer the paint itself was fading anyway so I went ahead and repainted. Prep is key to a good outcome

The only thing holding me back is that on the ‘04, there is also a silver bezel around the gauge cluster (more silver than just the rings on the later years like yours). There is painted black lettering to label the 3 buttons on it that control the odometer functions that would get painted over with a color change, and I think it would look odd if that panel wasn’t painted to match the rest of them. On yours it looks fine because as I mentioned, it’s much less silver that shows.

I know very little about painting. What king of prep did you do? Thanks!
