Clicking/Ticking noise from the engine

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and recently bought a 07 SR5 4WD on 1/27/07. I like it a lot - always liked Toyotas - had a 99 Camry before this and needed something a bit bigger.

Only question I have is that there is a ticking noise coming from left side of the engine when warm. took it to the Toyota dealer who said that is normal (although they could not hear over the racket in the shop). I described it to them but they listed other reasons for it like fuel injectors, new catalytic convereter, severe cold weather. the point that stuck with me is that he does not want to touch an engine that is brand new esp when he does not know for sure there is something wrong with it. besides, he said i have the warranty so if there is a problem it should get worse enough to be more noticeable.

Anyway, from reading the forums, it seems some other people had similar experiences - can any of youshed some more light on this?

Cheers

It's a feature on most (if not all) Toyota V6 engines.

I can even hear it a little on the V8, but only if I stick my head in the front wheel well. (Noticed that yesterday at the car wash!)

That tick is an option on the current V-6 and just about everyone orders that option (weather you wanted it or not).

My "06" V-6 has this option as well ......... "strange" I don't recall checking it on the 4runner order box when I bought mine but I got it anyway

"80's" Buick Grand National and GNX ...... "Sir you can get any color you want ......... as long as it's BLACK !"

thanks guys - definitely makes me feel a bit better given the car is not even a month old but other than that little annoyance, it's quite nice! =)

to be honest the last couple of days has been warmer (i am from ny and its in the 40s) and i notice the noise less - guess wait and see is the best approach

btw, my 4Runner is black on taupe and i put bumper guards on and a viper alarm system - that's about it - looks pretty nice as it is =)
