Repair XREAS system - not replace

I want to keep the XREAS system if possible. NOT replace it with shocks and struts. However my front XREAS is leaking and will need to be repaired soon.

Is it possible for the system to be repaired? I read a lot of information online but everyone seems to be replacing the entire system. I'd like to keep.

Sure it's possible....the dealership will be glad to order you the parts. Problem is the shocks/struts are preferably replaced in pairs (left front, right rear). If both fronts are leaking that basically means replacing all 4. The labor involved plus the price of the parts will be at least double what a set of Bilstein 5100s will go for. That's why most people just replace the system, not because it can't be fixed.

@meltdowner
Yes each of the 6 components can be replaced 1x according to my dealership service advisor. BUT they need to be replaced in pairs IE if FL shock is leaking both it and the RR need to be replaced. Many dealerships prefer to replace all 6 components at the cost of $3k+ to avoid issues with leaking at the disconnects.

I replaced (DIY) both fronts in 2004 Sports (right one in 2012 and left one in 2016). I spotted leaks early and wasn't concerned about serious loss of fluid. Rears are still factory originals.

Odds are the front springs are worn out as well, both of my 4Runners with xreas are practically sitting on the bump stops even though though both still ride very nice.

At 99K I replaced the left and at 110K replaced the whole system. Replaced it with Bilstein 5100's. Hard to admit but the performance is better than the XREAS.

I don't believe this is to repair the system, this is to replace the system.

I looked at how the XREAS system is designed and it's quite intelligent. I would not want to go backwards if I can help it. (backwards may be the wrong word). I love how the car currently rides and handles. One of the reasons I bought it. If that changed, I could be upset. I don't want to be upset.

What's the methodology used to bleed the new component into the existing system? I had come to understand that that was the fundamental reason why the system got replaced as a FR/RL & FL/RR set... due to the inability to bleed the system... as that it wasn't designed to be bled.

FWIW 5100s at stock height will ride just as well as XREAS. I was pretty hesitant to make the switch as well, but failed inspection for leaking shocks (which was a load of crap) so went with 5100s and a lift. Even with the lift it handles as well as it did with XREAS and soaks up bumps much better.

XREAS was probably great when the truck was brand new and up to ~100K, but after it isn't at its best performance it just starts to deteriorate and suck pretty quickly. best budget option is eibach shocks & springs. rides so nice.
