Suspension Noob Question - Is This Tacoma TRD Setup a Direct Swap?
I found these components for sale - a Bilstein 4600 setup off a 2014 TRD Tacoma. Thinking of going with it in place of my XREAS, which is still working fine but will eventually fail. Would these be a direct swap onto my '07 Sport?
EDIT: Checked p/ns on Bilstein's site and they're the same for the fronts but the rear shows 24-186056 for the '14 Taco and 24-186049 for the '07 4Runner. So maybe the rears won't work?
If so, thoughts and opinions also welcome. I've seen the 4600 vs. 5100 discussions so I'm aware of the differences there.
Thanks for any insight.

IIRC, you need to change out the bushing for the rear shocks.
Another discussion here along with the bushing part #

Steel lower bushing sleeve on the front shocks needs to be shaved down a hair, otherwise they are a direct swap and provide roughly 1" lift. Rear shocks require the bushing and sleeve to be pressed out and a new bushing installed. Not worth it IMO since 5th gen 4R shocks are a direct swap along with 5th gen 4R coils which also offer a small lift to the 4th gen.

To add to this, 5th gen 4R shocks also have a much larger body than the Tacoma shocks do. Not sure how much that'll help with ride quality but it can't hurt.

@ 2016 4Runner SR5
, from what I've read, it's the FJ fronts that need the bushing sleeve narrowed, not the Tacoma, right? Bilstein's website shows the same 4600 p/n for both my 2007 4Runner and a 2015 Tacoma so I assume this should fit without modification.

I'd say stay away from doing this. I did it and the ride was super soft and bouncy. Save your pennies a while longer and do a full upgrade made for your vehicle.

Can't say for sure. I have a set of 3rd gen Tacoma stock front Bilstein shocks which will eventually make their way under my 2005 sport but that won't be for a while.

I appreciate the input. I'm going ahead with the swap and the reason is the nature of changing things like the suspension. If I don't care for a shirt I bought, I can return it; not so much with this. I'd rather risk $130 (seller's final price) to see if I like this than spend hundreds more on a setup I may or may not like and will either be stuck with for a while or lose money reselling it.
Also, and again I appreciate the benefit of your experience, but ride is so subjective and peoples' opinions so varied that it's tough to know whether advice applies to you until you bolt the gear on and drive it.
And if you're right, I'll be the first to post back here telling you I should have listened.

Thanks, assuming you're not being sarcastic. ;-)
Surprised your experience wasn't more positive. The 4600 p/n for the Tacoma is the same as the 4Runner so Bilstein must feel it works for either vehicle.

Also went through with it. Started with 2nd Gen Tacoma fronts and subsequently have found 3rd Gen which I am led to believe provide an additional inch of lift. Those are still yet to be installed but I love the 2nd Gen TRD Offroad stuff I have on there now!
