On a scale of "standard" exhaust sounds. How is it really? My phone won't do that sounds Justice.
Is it like a stock Harley road King? Or more like a road King with a blunderbuss barrel for exhaust?
It sounds great, good note at least. Seems like if it were ones idea of loud, a few feet of pipe and a flowmaster might pull it down to "gated residential before midnight" loud.
I wish I could hear a set in person. I'm very interested in installing them, but I don't live in the country anymore.

Good question but as far as from what I have seen, 2" is the most I've seen vendors offers, it's what I went with as well from Fat Pats Body Lifts.
Ok now as for the exhaust, hahaha, honestly I get giggly everytime I think about it, I have no idea what any of those bikes sound like but I've heard Harley Davidson's before and the car is not THAT loud, but it is pretty close. I personally have no problem with it, yet, still pretty young and rambunctious 🤪
You have to hear it for yourself, it's around 3k rpm that it transforms into something else, I like having that option at my disposal 🙃

Do you have a 2" or 3"? In the title and first post you say 3", here you say 2".

You are completely right, I can not believe I missed that, I am very sorry. I will fix that immediately.

There have been a few videos on denting headers to fit.
Check out Engine Masters, think it's called the great header bash. They smashed the headers and Dyno'd. No appreciate power or flow loss. Really surprising stuff.

If I had a pavement warrior like you I would probably feel the same way! But my 4runner and I are doing just fine on and off the road right now!
I will definitely be keeping whoever is interested updated. 👍
Thank you.

BUMP! How are things after almost a year of driving with the dented headers?

Thanks for asking, the car is doing just fine so far, I'm being honest and not trying to cover my own butt. Runs just as strong and loud as ever. The timing belt/tensioners/pulleys were all changed a couple months after that. My Ac compressor just went out and I have to fix that but the engine itself is a beast.
I will admit, those gas mileage "increases" that I partly used to help me justify the whole header job, have not been realized yet ... I still get the same gas mileage as before, which is about 12.4 with my 35s and armor. So that was pretty annoying but otherwise, it's great.
I am thinking about an CAI soon though, might help mpgs.
I'll be happy to show anyone in the area the rig if they would like!

Appreciate the reply! I'm not in the area - I'm in Indiana. I was just curious because I am waiting to get my 4Runner back from the shop and they are having to dent the headers to get them to fit - similar to your situation.
Cheers!

At what body lift height does the steering shaft begin to rub on the headers? Can I run 1" with no issues? 1.25"? 1.5"?

Good choice honestly, you won't regret it. Hope the shop guys are having as much fun as I did! Let me know how it goes and what you decide as your exhaust route?

The shop has had my car for 6 weeks now, so they must be having fun. I spoke to the owner yesterday and he said they "will have things wrapped up this week", but that is a whole different conversation that I'll spare you from...
I decided to keep everything stock other than the headers to keep things quiet. I have a straight piped WRX that I can use to be loud when I want to

Haha I feel your pain. How much are they charging you for the whole shebang if you mind me asking?
And why are you doing the headers? Just for the exhaust tick?

I got the headers for $750 and they estimated $1000 for the install. And yep, I bought this thing in May with the exhaust tick and took two road trips in it (one to GA and one to WV) and was so annoyed with the tick that I justified spending $2k, hah! So only doing it to fix the tick.
P.S. called the shop again yesterday and the owner (who is supposed to be working on my car) "had a family emergency" and is out for the rest of the week. This is after they called me earlier this week telling me my car was done, I took a 30 minute Uber to the shop and it was a DIFFERENT 4RUNNER that they had mixed up with mine.
If anyone in Indiana wants to chime in and offer to do this (name your price!) or knows of a shop that's not full of idiots that can do this, please let me know!

You have a 1 inch bl right? Have you swapped to a flatter head carriage style steering shaft bolt yet?
