Have you checked your trade in value lately?
I just threw up a little in my mouth. I was reading a post about the Tundra on the forum and noted a member being offered an insulting trade in on his 05 SE, like $16,500 or something, but he didnt mention his mileage.
Since I am pretty interested in an 07 Tundra and am waiting to see a Crew Max in the flesh (I have driven 5.7 double cab and they have done it right, best truck I have ever driven) this put me in a flat spin and I got onto KBB and Nada to found out my trade in currently. I had a ball park in mind based on ebay buy it now prices of $23,000 trade in to $26,500 private party.
Interestingly KBB does not have the correct designations for the 4gen's, it has sport utility, sr5 sport utility, and limited sport utility. Using the same mileage and spec the sport utility came back with the lowest price, and sr5 just about $600 more. How much? approx $17,500. Yeh buddy, if thats the case Toyota is going to have a serious reputation problem soon, I paid $32,500 in June 05 and it had a $34,800 sticker with all the options when new. (I was impulsive and wanted it immediately so not much bargaining went on!).
Nada btw has the correct options to add on for the 4R and came back with a value of $22,650, that I can deal with.
You can see all my specs in the signature below, it has 40,000miles, full service history incl all oil changes at 5,000miles at the original dealer I bought it at and just fitted revo's, and consider it to be in immaculate condition as I am fanatical.
Any offers? ha, ha.
Was wondering if anyone else has noticed the discrepancy between the two 'reputable' websites.

My KBB trade-in value for my 4R with 22000 miles in near perfect condition is $19,850. Of course dealers will pay as little as they can. However, that same dealer can turn around and sell my 4R for $24,415 (Suggested retail). One last note: I gladly paid $27,000 including tax when I bought my 4R in July 2004 and am happy to know that it is worth almost the same today thru the dealership.

Check both KBB and Edmunds. KBB is usually low, and Edmunds is usually high, so an average of the two is a good number to work with.
Also check going rate for retail price on used car lots. Search for used 4Runners at dealer web sites, cars.com, vehix.com, Carmax, or wherever. Trade-in would be a couple of thousand dollars below retail.

As gas prices go up, SUV prices go down.

According to KBB,
If I sold it privately I would get about 26,370 for my 04 Limited.
If I trade it in, I would get about 23,400.
I think that's pretty good for a truck going on 4 years old.

My figures on Edmunds for 17,500 miles on my silver V8 4WD SE in outstanding condition are:
Trade in= $23,767
Private Party=$25,564
Dealer Retail=$27,349
Certified Used Vehicle =$28,859
I think if I were selling my 4Runner I would settle for 25K privately and 23K trading it in.

My 4Runner had about 23,800 miles when I sold it (with all the mods listed). I sold it private party for $26k. The dealer I am buying my Tundra from offered me $24k. That's about what the trade-in value was at KBB and NADA. Sadly, the dealer couldn't care less about the mods I had done so I sold it to someone who appreciated the mods...

Nope, because I plan on driving it into the ground. But I'm curious to see what its worth on paper. KBB says mine is worth about $33k in excellent condition. Took about a 20% hit on depreciation.
