Question Spare tire and TPMS question

I had a new set of wheels and tires put on today and since I will be getting a tire carrier rear bumper soon I had them just remove the spare too. I knew the TPMS light would come on without a new spare put back in place, but I want to know if there is a way to disable ONLY the spare tire TPMS.

I saw this guide on how to disable/bypass the entire system, however I would like to leave the primary sensors in functioning if at all possible.

Has anyone had any experience getting this to work or is disabling the system all together the only option?

Thanks in advance!

When I had gotten my, new to me 2006 T4R, I had a dead TPMS sensor in the spare that did not trigger a TPMS light.

I have since gotten all 5 sensors communicating.

When I drive around without my spare tire, I don't get a TPMS sensor light on. I have done that for weeks at a time. When I plan to stay local, I leave the spare tire at home, cuts down on 50+ lbs.

I don't know if the TPMS can work with just 4 sensor IDs uploaded to ECM, instead of 5 sensor IDs.

Hmmm So I wonder if I just do a TPMS reset if the light will stay off with the spare removed. I'll give it a try just for the hell of it.

I have 2004 and if my spare get low or I take it off the vehicle and leave it at home it always triggers my light to come on, not sure if it's different for the newer 4TH Gens.

I blew a tire a year ago and the TPMS light didn't come on for 6 months with no spare, and 2 resets haven't fixed it so mine is just on now and Im just gonna deal with it till I get new tires and rims next year. Slightly annoying that it took 6 months to trigger and won't go away tho

That's what you call a slight delay. TPMS is fine when it works but not so good when it doesn't.

Question Spare tire and TPMS question

My TPMS light has been on for over a year. I believe its from my spare since every time I add air in the spare tire the light goes off. I think there's leak in the spare so the light comes back on. I figure I deal with the light until I upgrade my tires. Never looked into bypassing it, as its not worth my time since I know what the problem is.
