03 with 06 OEM projector and Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 LEDs

Sorry no pics yet, as my last thread on this forum I need an easier to use photo hosting site, having issues loading and using Photobucket.

-----------

I had two sets of projectors and HID kits but wanted to give a much simpler setup a try and found a set with one brand new and one and one really clean 06 OEM headlight pair locally for just $100.

I got the bulbs in just in time for a 1,000 mile road trip up into the mountains, CA coast, saw a bit of snow, huge rain storms, some fog, took a logging road 5 miles in the middle of the night to the coast, etc.....glad I had the new lights!

Stock 03s with Silverstar bulbs were not that great, better than some I have driven over the years for sure but still at 66 and night vision not what is used to be much safer to have better lights.

With the 06 stock lights, MM 2.0 bulbs, I expected it to be decent but not great but it turned out to be all the lighting I needed. I adjusted the beams as high as possible to see further and help with the issue of doing through dips on the road and loss of lighting caused by the severe cutoff. Out of hundreds of cars and trucks, mostly two lane roads, only flashed once but it turned out to be the jackass behind me with high beams on they were flashing.

I most highly recommend this setup as a rather easy mod for very good light output. If you want the very best then perhaps a high end projector upgrade with top notch HIDs would be best but I simply found what I needed, better than expected and only spent around $200!

----------

Now I am looking for something to run in the 1156 socket for a DIY DRL setup if any bulb is bright enough, might try the MM or like the rest of the lights where I used the Profile Peaks bulbs to great effect.

----------

Considering an LED fog upgrade, looking into some aftermarket F150 units I can fit in the stock fog location.

----------

I have some cheap ebay high beam LEDs my neighbor gave me, very bright, seem OK but considering the 9005 MM 2.0 LEDs.

proper aiming of lights does matter, if you aimed them high, its not going to help. they have rules for light aiming,

if your truck is lifted, a 3 inch drop at 25 feet is recommended.

stock suspension should be good at 2.5 inch drop at 25 feet.

make sure the low beams is aimed correctly first, the highs follows it after. if you need brighter highs, install aux driving lights.

Same raamaudio as in raamat?

The Profile Peak bulbs should be bright enough for DRL use. I use the switchback versions in a CRV's taillights as auxiliary turn and reverse. If you change to sockets to 1157's you can run the switchbacks so you'll have white DRLs + amber signals.
