Replacement seat rails? Lowering drivers seat

I finally found a legit local fab shop that is willing to lower my seat by cutting/rewelding the brackets that are attached to the rail. My only concern is, the 4 plastic caps that go over the floor bolts won't fit once I do this, and if I sell my ride down the road I'd like to have the means to put it back to stock. I haven't taken the seat off, so my question is, do the rails that attach to the seat just bolt on underneath? What parts should I be looking for if I wanted to have OEM backup replacements for down the road? Thanks!

I have modded many seat brackets, built custom ones, etc and never once was asked about the mods, missing caps, etc...I would not worry about it, just make it fit you better

Lucky I am only 5'8' so on the lowest setting I am OK but if needed I would lower them in a heartbeat.

Take a good look under the seats lowered all the way, see how much lower you can go, might be able to cut them off and both together at the right height. I have done so and used steel plates on both sides, grade 8 bolts, etc with no worries. I have also welded some up when needed. I do not trust shops so DIY always but if trust them and the price is not crazy then go for it.

If I was you I'd just keep your eyes open for a part out and buy a drivers seat (maybe one thats all torn up) and then salvage a spare set of seat mounts/brackets from it to keep for the day you decide to sell.

I've always been one to keep spare OEM parts for the "future owner" but when it comes down to it, most the time I wasted space to keep stuff that they didn't even really want. I've been clearing out my parts hoard and only keeping things I think would be hard to find/rare in the future.
