2004 4R Passenger Side, Rear, Roof Rack Trim/Cover,

Anyone have the correct part number for this? I ordered a much-too-small cover through Amazon that was indicated for the 2004.

You can see in the photo it is much shorter and narrower than the rear drivers side cover.

Everything I find on-line indicates that I have the correct part. I suspect it may fit an 05-09 4R but it is much too small to fit my 2004.

Is that an OEM/Toyota part, if so did it come in packaging with a Toyota logo, and what is the part number for the part that doesn't fit?

I know you say it's from Amazon, but did it state who the actual vendor is, a Toyota dealer, Toyota parts vendor, or some aftermarket parts vendor, etc.?

I am sure it was aftermarket. No part number. I couldn't find a part number from Toyota so I gave this thing a shot. The original came off at an unknown location so we couldn't get the part number off of that.

Well the part you have is definitely not for a 4th Gen T4R, it maybe for a 3rd Gen T4R, all of the luggage racks for the 4th gens are the same other than color and the rounded version on some/most Sport Editions, here are links to the part you need, I know you will be shocked on the price but maybe you could do some online searching with the part number and find it cheaper, or maybe someone on the forum has removed their original rack and replace it with a heavier aftermarket that may have what you need, I would ost in the classifieds and try to see if that pans out, I'm including 2 links the first one is for the entire luggage rack with all the parts expolded, the second is the right rear cover in silver that you need.

Thanks AuSeeker. I will search that part number and see if I can find it elsewhere, new or used. At this point in my search this new part price is ok with me. I don't mind used since our 4Runner has 198k miles.

At least its below $300 which seems to be the minimum price for any Toyota part I end up needing.

Check eBay for new, I did see a couple on there for less than $60 and free shipping, just make sure it's the exact same part number or you may end up with a front one, driver's side and or the wrong color, all of the part numbers are very similar with maybe only one or two numbers different from one to the others.

I lost my left rear one a few times in a car wash (different times), but luckily I realized it, and was able to get it back. The first time I didn’t notice until I got home, but’s after that I made it a habit to check before leaving. I actually saw it blow off one of the times while looking in the rearview mirror. The air blaster that dries the car is what did it. Anyway, I solved that problem permanently by drilling and tapping some stainless #10-24 screws through the inside vertical surface. If you look at the metal casting there is a raised area near the top that is thick enough, and close to the surface of the plastic cover that I targeted for this. It works perfectly and now they will never be lost, stolen, and I can still remove if I need to. My original idea was to just glue them on with clear silicone caulk, but this is even more secure, and easily removed. After seeing the replacement cost for these, I wasn’t taking any chances!
