I actually meant the part of the console cover that folds out. Some here refer to it as a “burger tray”. I generally fold that out and put my phone on it while driving, and using a nav app, or when it’s plugged into the power port for charging. I use the pocket behind that row of switches for my Oakleys. When the burger tray is folded down, it appears to me that it might be difficult, or interfere with a USB cable in the position next to the DAC switch.

Ahhhh... Gotcha. Yes, still plenty of space to keep the USB cable plugged in

Good questions! I actually just installed the Sony XAV-AX100 yesterday evening. I plan on a short writeup this evening with a few photos, but I'll try to answer your questions.

I did 100% absolutely nothing with the "parking brake" wire. I pulled it to the fuse panel where I was suppose to splice it. However, not being connected does not seem to affect CarPlay or the functions of the radio at all.

I suspect that Android Auto depends more on that wire than CarPlay does. Also, I [I]suspect[/] that if you try to play a video on the headunit from a USB drive, it would probably require the parking brake to be spliced.

I did not ground it or anything. Until I see a reason to do anything more, I'm leaving it exactly as is.

My stock Toyota radio had 2 antennas as well. It really threw me off for a while. I called Crutchfield, he basically said that (some) Toyotas have 2 antennas -- a short and a long one. I guess the factory radio can switch between the two. So far my radio seems to work as expected. You just use the bigger plug and set the smaller one aside.

Awesome, thank you! I’ll just leave that parking brake wire loose for now then.

Save yourself potentially future trouble. Pull both he parking break and the reverse indicator to the fuse box while everything is apart. It took probably 5 minutes or less to pull the the right way. Will be much easier in the future if you decide to splice one or both wires to where they should be.

Darn, I wish I saw this, or thought of it myself before the install! I put it in awhile ago, but the good news I should that it works awesome! Her car had a factory JBL with 6 disk changer, so I decided to get the integration harness so I could keep the amps. It not only sounds good, but it is seriously loud! I totally want this for my runner now, but I also wish it had the rear USB, so I’m going to keep looking for a bit before deciding. I mean, having the front USB isn’t a total deal breaker, but I was hoping to do a remote port near the DAC switch just for a cleaner setup with no wires hanging down.

Even though running those wires would’ve made future stuff easier, I still need to pull it one more time, as I didn’t have time to do the backup camera today, so whenever I get around to that, I’ll take your suggestion for sure.

I put mine here, too.
I got the double USB...
one for power (charging) and the other for audio.
I did find that I kept bumping my USB thumb drive with it mounted there...
so I bought a low profile thumb drive and haven't had a problem since.

Yeah, I can see the "burger tray" hitting a full size thumb drive. A USB cord is no problem though.

Dude, that's cool! I hate the OEM location of the AUX jack. You have a writeup?

No write up. The little panel I bought has the USB and audio leads integrated and I just popped the blank switch, fished the leads through the hole, connected them to the back of my Pioneer H/U , and voila.

Installed, this thing looks and works great.

Pair it with the Anker Powerline+ II cable and it's a winner.

How did the kwik seal ultra hold up? Any movement or is it pretty much solid?. I would also like to tack mine down but also, if I need to, just be able to peel it off if something goes wrong with the cable

Seems like a fun mod, im going to give it a shot as I dont like how the standard non-smokers tray has to be flipped open all the time while I charge my phone.

Best product in that shot is the Magpul phone case. Worth every penny and I wouldn't think of using anything else.
