Check Engine, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC lights come on frequently

Hey guys! So I just bought a 4th gen V8 after previously owning a 2nd gen and have had some problems with my dash lighting up like a Christmas tree every now and then. It first happened the day after I brought it home from the dealer so I called him and he said that it is something that just happens when a button gets pushed too many times or for too long or something (I believe he said it was the DAC button), which simply does not make sense to me, but he told me to disconnect the battery for a minute, then reconnect negative first and they would go off. Of course this worked because disconnecting the battery resets the computers then you have drive it for x amount of time or miles or whatever for the code to show back up again if it is actually a problem code, at least that is how it worked for my 2nd gen (and how I got it to pass emissions). It stayed off for a while and then came back on and I reset it again, then it stayed off for a couple days and came back on, I reset it again. I reset it right before a long road trip from Colorado to Montana, 13 hours and over 1,000 miles later, it never lit up making me think that it isn't actually a serious code and it may actually be a button issue. Since I have been in Montana it has come up a few more times and have just been reseting it. But seriously? Do we really think that Toyota designed these THAT badly??? No I don't think so because I know so many other people with the same trucks and they've never had this issue. I searched all over the forums, and it seems that no one has posted about the same issues. I have seem some people have the same lights come on and it ends up being an o2 sensor or the gas cap is not sealing right, but it doesn't seem like that would apply to me because of how the lights never came on during my long road trip... Anyone have any ideas??? I really am not good with electronics and have only worked on cars older than me so I need some guidance with my new baby. Thanks!

whenever the truck throws a check engine code all of those lights also come on. i see you also have a v8, if it has vvt-i its a good chance it could be the AIP . either way get the code checked and see what it is

Could be a wheel sensor, but more than likely just needs a new brake switch.

What he said @trd_v8_sport
You definitely need to get the codes checked.

You can get a cheap code reader off Amazon for less than $30
Comes in very handy in situations like these. After you know what the code pertains to, you can start diagnosing yourself.

My lights come on every once in a while due to the catalytic convertors along with bad o2 sensors.

Our trucks have 4 of those bad boys. One goes bad and chances are those lights come on.
But it can be a number of different things.

Gotta know what the codes are.

GET the car scanned , the codes will tell you what the exact problem is, most mordern acrs are programmed for the vsc and vtrac lights to come on when the vehicle throws a MIL

Thanks guys! Got my codes read and there were actually a bunch of them but many mentioned a small leaks related to the gas cap, so replaced that. It’s been about a week and I drove from northern Montana down to Jackson Wyoming. None of the lights have come on yet! Will keep you all posted if they come back up again. Still have no idea why they never came on with a bad gas cap driving from Colorado to Montana but hopefully that fixes it.

Yup, I had a Xmas tree going on intermittently with small evap leak codes. A new cap fixed me up.
