OEM Auto Dimming Mirror Installation, need some help..

I purchased a OEM Auto Dimming Mirror thinking I can just remove the old one and plug the new one in. I was wrong and turns out I need a wiring kit. I searched the forum but I just couldn't find anyone that only sells the wiring kit / harness.

Can anyone help me finding the wiring kit? my apologies if there is a post that covers this.

It looks like you bought a used mirror without the connector and wiring that comes with it. You definitely need that.

I know people have added auto dimming mirrors, but not sure about OEM route. I can tell you that the harness is part of the headliner harness which runs down the A Pillar to the driver kick panel fuse box. On mine there’s 2 connectors that come down. 1 that connects to something by the footwell, and the othe the fuse panel. Not sure which one is for the mirror, but the harness is definitely 1 piece for the whole headliner.

My guess is if you want the OEM auto dimming harness, you’re either going to have to buy the entire headliner harness, which is probably in the hundreds if not 1000s. Or you could hit up a junkyard and maybe pick up an entire headliner for a 100 with the harness. Or maybe you can get a pigtail with the connector from the junkyard if you’re lucky. I certainly wouldn’t recommend dropping the headliner to do this.

Or you can look at this thread. May even be universal...

You can tap into the existing wiring or to fuse box. Typically these mirrors need just 3 wires: ground, constant +12 and switched +12; two more may be needed for the temp sensor, if exists. If the mirror came from a 4Runner or other Toyota model, you can find pigtail/wiring on ebay or junk yard, just make sure it's the 7 pin as there're also 10 and 12 pin connectors.

Sometimes you'll also need to figure out the pin-out, as even the same mirror model (they all made by Gentex, with few exceptions) can have different pin designations for different manufacturers.

P.S. I have a mirror for sale in classifieds.
