I got a 06 4Runner sport last week and immediately bought the AX100 after reading this thread. Cleanest HU imo and should be great. I don't have JBL, but I've opted to retain my steering wheel controls.
I've managed to not get the plastic bracket aligned correctly, so I'll have to pull it back out to get it to look as perfect as yours.
One thing that made me laugh, Sony says in the user manual to only operate between 0 degrees C and 40 degrees C.... So myself being in MN they want me to only use this thing 5 months out of the year

Crutchfield customer service was top notch. I use Android Auto and needed the parking brake wire tapped. They also helped me as the previous owner had installed a aftermarket amp and we managed to figure that out and get it all to work. I also used their "ready" harness. Steering wheel controls also work perfectly and are programmable with the HU to make them work the way I wanted. For example., I use the "Hang Up" button to pause play.
I routed the mic up the side pillar to the top corner of the windshield and the female USB into the center console (small hole drilled to feed cable).
I also hooked up a backup cam I bought on Amazon for about $20. It works perfectly, but was a bit of pain to wire to the rear tailgate. Plenty of Youtube vids on how to do it though.
Any other car I now ride in (other peoples or my own) feels inadequate without Android Auto. I love it. The ability to use Google Maps, Spotify and AudioBooks natively on the HU works for me. Being able to speak to it and ask to play a certain song, or navigate to a destination is just great.
I recommend the HU and Crutchfield unreservedly!
Things I don't like...
The warning screen - not needed.
I wish I could stream Youtube/Netflix for my daughter.
The HU is occasionally a little glitchy, and can take a while to bring up my audiobook. This may be my phone or the HU, not sure. Sometimes it's immediate, and sometimes it can take 20 seconds to play.

Which camera did you end up buying? Also, how did you wire it so you could turn it on at the head unit? Is there a button in the head unit to activate the camera? I have the 1000 version of this head unit (newer model) I installed in my daughter’s car. I just got around to hooking up a backup camera for her yesterday. It works ok, but it was a wireless one, so sometimes the signal gets a little glitchy because of interference. Because of that, I’ll only use a direct wired version for mine. With the wireless, you have to hook a positive and ground in the rear, I used the backup positive and a stud from the taillight for the ground. Up front, I just plugged the receiver end into the head unit, used the red ACC for power, and the ground from the HU. I tapped the purple reverse input to the reverse signal wire in her kickpanel. When I do mine, I wouldn’t mind having the ability to turn it on independently of using reverse though.

I ordered this one...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
On the home page of the HU, there is a button called "Camera". I just hit that and the view of the camera appears. As I said earlier, I ran the power lead from the camera all the way to the back of the HU and tapped it into the ACC power wire.

Thanks! That’s the type of camera I was planning to buy. Are you happy with it so far?

Eh. Sorta. If you go through Crutchfield they included all that needed stuff for free. It depends on if you have steering controls, JBL, and or the Urban Runner package. That list looks right...but I had the "most basic" installation as I don't have steering controls and I don't have JBL. I just had the "base" audio system and nothing more.
So that could be right. Again, I'd go through Crutchfield, select your vehicle/trim, and go by what they say.
Also, if you purchase gift cards through "Raise" (listed previously), you can save big bucks!

Ok, thanks. I do have JBL and steering wheel controls so I needed some "extra" stuff. I'll definitely go through Crutchfiled support and Raise as you suggested.

It works just fine, especially for the price. Night vision is fine. The only thing I don't like is that it is slightly off center in that location which in reality is an issue with most reverse cams.

I'm am asking you this question since you have JBL.
I'm thinking of buying the same Sony HU as you and wanted to confirm if there items were purchased by you as well:
1- Sony XAV-AX100
2- Crux CS-TJ20 Wiring Interface
249CSTJ20
$47.99 (cheaper if you buy it as part of a kit, otherwise $89 if you buy this unit by itself)
2a- Metra 95-8210 Dash Kit
120958210
2b - trim piece
$7.98
2c- Metra ISOPK Screw Pack
120ISOPK
$0.93
Note: Item #2 includes 2a, 2b, 2c as part of a kit they sell.

I honestly don't remember what I got, other than following Crutchfield's recommendations. I know I paid for the wiring service (worth it) and there was a additional integrated harness for the steering wheel controls. Other than running a wire to the reverse signal wire in the fuse box near your left knee, it was pretty plug and play.
Edit : I think what you listed above looks right. There was definitely a box thing like that Crux.

Thanks dude but if you happen to find out any more details, let us know. Sounds like you might have the correct template for the JBL folks like me.

Thanks, yeah, I was wondering if it would appear off center in the screen image because of that position. Still a super clean way to install for sure.

Why is your 4WD switch in between 2wd and 4HI?
Looks really good, I've been contemplating the switch to a Car Play radio for a while now. I use my iPhone for nav all the time so it would be nice to have it on a bigger screen.
+1 for the recommendation to use Crutchfield. I've now installed three radios I bought through Crutchfield. All installed without a single issue by following their instructions. They didn't have the Ready Harness service when I bought my last radio, but I will use it for sure next time.
