Gauge lights not working? If so check you grounds. Had a similar issue and turned out to be severed ground wire under the tape on the engine block, passenger side.

Ok dug into this a little more today, this is what I have found. Pulled all 4 wheel sensors and checked ohms. All tested at .385 to .387. I think the sensors are ok. Checked harness on all 4 from the sensor to the plug up top and have continuity on each harness. Harness for all 4 seem ok. The gauge cluster has lights but speedo, odometer and gas gauge do not work. Tach and temp gauge works. Also the info center under the radio does not register miles to go or mpg. Clock and outside temp still works. Any ideas on where to go from here?

I'm sure you probably checked your fuses? Maybe the harness connectors behind the dash?

Fuses have been checked. Have not pulled the cluster yet.

Update...all lights on dash are now out and codes cleared. Speedo is working along with everything else. Pulled the rear ABS wheel speed sensor harness out of the Runner to test further. Found the plug on the right side that plugs into the wheel sensor had a bad connection. Took apart the plug and found the terminal corroded and the wire broke off. Temporarily repaired the plug and put back in. At first I had no change, but after a few miles on the rode all the lights went out and speedo started to work. Ordered a new harness and waiting for it to arrive. Hope this helps someone else out who may run into this problem.

have same issue, found front passenger abs harness cable had parted, taped it up, disconnected battery for 30mins, yet lights are on, drove for about 5miles, lights still on, i dont have an abs capable code reader, to tell me which wheel has the fault, so am playing it by the ear
so how many miles did you drive till the lights cleared?

You will need a new cable. I tried repairing the cable too and it did not work. Had to buy a new one. Once I installed it took about 10 miles before everything cleared. I did not know which wheel was the problem, that is why I did the continuity test on each cable to find the bad one. It took some time, but in the end it was worth it.

so appears not to be the front sensor, as i thought, got a bluetooth phone app to work with my obd tool, and the codes all point to a malfunctioning rear wheel speed sensor. pulled the sensors and found them covered in grease, wiped and reinserted, lights are still on... am wondering how you tested the harness for continuity?. where do they terminate?.
tested both rear wheel sensors, and the read 0.34ohms, so i believe they are good. its the harness i dont know how to test for continuity. could you enlighten me please

@keller9431 was of immense help in troubleshooting

sensors read ok 0.34ohm when tested alone, harness reads ok, when disconnected from sensor, however no continuity when sensor is plugged into harness, and read from the combined harness connector, above the axle. still dont understand how the 2 rear sensors will fail at the same time. am wondering if the failure is further on along the harness?..ie from the harness meeting point (circled in yellow) to the abs ecu/vss??

i am looking at 3 options now,
1. Buy a new harness
2. Trace from the harness connector above axle to the abs ecu/vss (you have any idea where this is?)
3. double my continuity reading again

I am literally having this same problem and cannot figure it out. P0500 and no guages/backlight on guages. I tried 2 different clusters and still the same problem. None of the guages work and neither do the lights that light up the guage cluster portion of the dash. Lights on radio/climate control work fine as well as the dimmer (dims that portion of dash appropriately) and turn signals. I checked the grounds under the hood (ones on the body of car/ones I could see near the engine bay.

Where is the easiest way to access this ground wire? from top or bottom?

Thanks in advanced!
