Apparently, the driver door had been damaged at some point and repaired shoddily. There were two symptoms: the door opens too far and contacts the hinge, and a little "bump" that occurred every time I rolled the window eventually turned into a "thump" then a "crack."
I took the car in to have the window looked at and they informed me that the door check device was coming loose because of the earlier damage and crappy repair. The metal frame of the door is twisted inside and the solution is to put on a new door.
Short story long, I found a door at a local junk yard in the right color for $130, but it is from a 2003 or 2004.
Should I be able to swap this door in?
I have all of the pieces to the current door so I can swap out the door handles and locks, body cladding, window, etc...
Thanks!

The door should fit in theory, but the 2008 body cladding may not fit and the electrical connectors may not fit. I'm not 100% positive, but that's what I would be worried about.
A few years back, I bought a engine harness from a 2007 for my 2003 and all the connectors were different.
