Radio/Speaker volume question...

I replaced an aftermarket Alpine system in my used 2007 4Runner with a 2016 Scion unit. For some reason, the rear speakers volume is considerably lower than the fronts. The Alpine system had an amp which I removed.Any thoughts on what could be the problem? or where to start diagnostics? Scion radio works perfectly otherwise. Thanks!

Of course. With the fader fully panned to the center rear, LR or RR the sound is barely audible. Any front position is all good. I suppose I'll have to start tracing the wiring to the rear. Thought there might have been an easier way. Thanks for the reply.

You removed the amplifier which provided whatever watts and replaced it with a deck which will obviously have a lot less power.
Front doors have bigger 6x9 speakers. Rears are 6.5". Put the amp back in.

I'm pretty sure an amp can't be used with the 2016 Scion head unit. I suppose I should check the speakers to make sure they are stock. Thanks!

While the Scion deck may not have pre out, you can use a line level adapter to drive an amp.
No way a head unit will ever have the out put of an amp.

Did you try changing the mode?

these HUs were used in different scion models. The HUs sound out put was adjustable depending on what scion vehicle the HU was installed in....

And from this thread its an easy mod.
