Electric Fan??

Why doesn't the V8 have one or two electric fans? Instead it has a clutch fan that is very loud upon start up...

When I go out to leave for work at 4:45 am I feel like I am awaking half of the neighborhood.

I was just interested if any knew a good reason.

I know the clutch fan is efficient for cooling but an e fan is also more efficient b/c it is not always on....

North/south engines normally have engine driven fans. Some also have auxiliary electric fans mounting in front of the radiator - BMW comes to mind.

I agree that the fan, v-6 in my case, is loud when the engine starts.

The Lexus GX (brother to our T4R) also has an aux. electric.
