I have a very strange problem that has occurred maybe five times in the last year or so but two were in close sucession about a week apart. All incidences had pretty much the same setup. Vehicle is parked, I hop in, start, backup out of parking area, apply brakes, shift to “D” and apparently when I release brake pedal the T4R bangs to a full hard stop with a scary “CLUNK!”, The ABS/Traction lamp goes on briefly, I hear a ticking sound like ABS released, then goes normal. This all happens in about one long second, maybe 2. It’s so startling that I have a hard time remembering back through that second of event to try guessing the cause.
I figure I’m not alone, so if you know the cause, pls share.
This has happened both on cold start first of day, and warm later in day
I’ve had similar issues in the past usually while turning out of a parking space or while starting to back up while turning. I unplugged wheel sensor kind of cleaned it out then plugged it back and the issue stopped for a long time but now it’s back just haven’t replaced the part yet.
