2006 Sport headlights?

For those who have experience with OEM 2006 Sport headlights, are they black or charcoal gray on the reflector area? I ask because I have aftermarket ones that I purchased on Amazon and I really love how the flat black looks on my black truck, but I’m done with trying to seal these stupid Chinese knockoffs! They look and work awesome when they are dry, but they never last more than a couple of weeks before it starts raining on the inside of the lenses after going through the car wash, or heavy downpours. I’ve had them out several times, and clear siliconed the lense interfaces, lubed all of the o-ring seals on the bulbs with Teflon o-ring lubricant, and for the life of me can’t get these things to stay dry! I suspect at this point that it must have something to do with the vents on them being faulty as everything that I could seal IS sealed well. I was able to “fix” the passenger side completely, but for some reason, the driver’s side never lasts.

So, I’m finally frustrated to the point that I don’t wasn’t to waste another couple of hundred on another brand of knockoffs (unless someone here has experience with a high quality one that won’t leak!) I’m hoping that the OEM sport ones came in the flat black, because pictures I’ve seen lead me to believe they were more of a gray. Where is the best place price-wise to purchase the OEM ones? If anyone has the correct part numbers I need, that would be a huge help too! I definitely don’t want the chrome version though!

i believe the toyota oem sports are referred to as smoked, so while not as bright as the chrome they are not black. you can compare the sr5/limited headlights to the sport in this thread. 2006 Sport Headlights

I just installed Toyota Sport appearance headlamps on my SR5.

They are definitely darker then the OEM SR5 lamps I had on there. They are not black. This is a website you can order from, and look up parts too. They are nearly wholesale
pricing. Toyota Parts and Accessories Online - West Coast Toyota of Long Beach in Long Beach, CA if you are on the east coast though, find an online Toyota dealer near you .

Heres a before & after picture

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. It is just as I suspected/remembered seeing with regard to the background finish. I really have grown to love the true flat black with my truck, but it’s definitely NOT worth looking at the defective headlights that look like it’s raining inside! I have considered doing a true projector retrofit on them which would obviously get me better lighting, but I’m not convinced I could ever seal them properly since it seems like the breather vents are the culprit. Has anyone else ever had this be the case. If so, how can that be fixed?

Azgold, thanks so much for the before/after pics, that helps a lot, and I definitely prefer the sport gray to the chrome! Probably would look pretty good with black, even though they are black like the aftermarket ones.

Thanks very much for the pictures AZGold.

These sold me on purchasing the sport headlights for my 2006 limited.

Mine are all fogged up and I've tried polishing them but they would just fog back up again a few months later.

I did some calling around to different dealers and was shocked at the difference in pricing for the headlamp assemblies.

Oakbrook Toyota - $600 for the pair
Camelback Toyota - $715 for the pair
Orland Park Toyota - $700 ish for the pair

Ended up ordering these through Carlock Toyota of Tupelo, Mississippi.

I drive past that dealer every time I go to Mississippi so I figured I'd give them a try.

For either the normal or the sport headlights they wanted $217.80

Got both for $458.72 after shipping. I thought it was a hell of a deal.

Can't wait to get these installed!

Do you have any suggestions or did you run into any difficulty with installation or re-aiming after they were installed on your truck?

Thanks.
