sorry dont mean to clutter the OPs thread with off topic but There are minor differences between HID projectors and halogen projectors. It has to do with the position of the bulbs focal point inside the projector. HID bulbs being longer means the point is not on the same spot with a halogen bulb vs the HID bulbs. So just by having the focal point in a different spot can vary the light output. as far as "has anyone taken apart an 06 headlight & compared the projector to an HID one" what do you think is involved in a retrofit? may be of some use- Mini Morimoto RetroQuik Bi-Xenon Projector Swap for '06+ Headlamps

Thanks, this picture is what I was asking about. '06 reflector is much shorter. However, it looks very similar if not identical to bosch ALs that ruled the Earth for generations and have being copied endlessly by others. So I think sticking a proper xenon bulb into stock '06, while not perfect, isn't such a bad option, as some present.

These Auxbeam LED bulbs won’t be beat for $29.99. I have said all of the following in this thread at some point.
Output: Equivocal to the morimoto 55w HID’s I had on both of my prior 3rd and 5th gen 4runners. Definitely better than 35w HID’s.
Cutoff: Clean with stock 06 housing
Width: Wide and dense light in front of the vehicle goes from the cut off all the way down. Honestly, I don’t need fogs.
What more you want? Lol

@ Formidable
, are those 1156 LED DRLs still behaving? Planning to order some and find it odd that they've been out of stock for so long.

Same here, zero issues with my DRLs on my ‘06 conversion lighting. I run the 3156 version in mine since it is an ‘04 with ‘06 headlights. Absolutely love them! My biggest complaint prior to the LEDs was that the yellow coating would get lighter and lighter over time because of the heat from running constantly as DRLs. The LED versions are super bright and have a nice deep color. They are actually kind of blinding when I approach my truck at night and hit the unlock button if I’m approaching from the front! Caught my wife by surprise last week, and she was like “what the hell! Why are those lights so bright!” Lol!

So, I have the Xenon Depot HID kit. I should replace it with these $30 LED bulbs?

Are you unhappy with the HID’s? I know some folks are experiencing wash out with the HID’s particularly on the passenger side. Judging by some pics out there, that’s unacceptable.
These Auxbeam LED’s produce dense, even light with a sharp cutoff within the 06-09 projectors. The immediate area in front of the vehicle is also filled from the cutoff down. No wash out. No squirrel finders. No hot spots. No excuses.
Compare your lights to the output pics shared on the first page of this thread. What you see is what you get. You be the judge.

As fate would have it, my drivers side HID bulb went out today, so I just ordered a set of Auxbeam low's. Delivered tomorrow with prime. They're also $36.99, not that it matters. I never replaced the stock high beams, but I will if I like the low's. Thanks for the reply.

BTW, I have a 2007 also. The Auxbeams would be for that, not the 2003. Thanks!

Is there a comparable unit for the 1156 you used, seeing as how those specific LEDs continue to be unavailable on Amazon?

Also, your link for the H11 Low Beam shows no H11 option. Am I missing something? Options: H1/P45S, H4/9003, H7, H13/9008, 9005/H10, 9006/HB4, 9007/HB5
