Also, just my opinion but that seems like a pretty steep price for that mileage and all the potential issues. I'd keep looking.

There's a slow leak from a hose connection up top which would account for it. Easy fix.
I offered $7600 OTD (not including tax) because of the cracked manifolds and the sales manager was doing the make-you-wait game which I don't have the attention span for so I just left after they came back with a really weak first counter offer.
Do you reckon $8000 OTD is decent if I can work them down? The only real immediate thing is the system lean codes and a new fuel pump is around $400 (if I do it myself). Checked for vacuum leaks and couldn't find anything so it's a fuel pressure problem.

The coolant reservoir was low, and you said you saw smoke. White, by chance?

There's a 2008 with 77k that just got traded into the dealership I work at. I was kind of pissed, but they're asking a lot more than what I paid for mine and the used car manager is notoriously tight-fisted even with employees. I think it's going to someone coming up from Florida. Man, if you have to buy a clean one from Ohio Florida must be tapped out on them. lol

The codes were from something else, and apparantly the CEL resets on the second trip after codes are cleared on 4th gens. So it looked like plugging that thing in did it on first glance.

Honestly i would pass on this, seems like a lot of little issues that will add up. The CEL might be cleared now if they reset the computer with a scan tool, but after driving for a little while it will pop back up.
Are you still getting codes after plugging it back in.?

@ LastManStanding - I have a 2007 SR5 V6 with 140,000 miles (lifted - some light mods - reliable and clean) I’m going to be selling very soon. Mind if I ask what the dealer is asking for that one?

Iam237,
It's is a private seller I'm looking at and the price $8300.00 +170K miles.
In my area these are tough to find, but prices are ranging on
basic 2004-2005's at $6500 +/- in the 130,000+ mile range to
10K cream puffs w/100,000 odometer readings.
Thanks AuSeeker!
Like that handle you have there! Finding anything below spot price these days?

Your welcome, I'm a gold prospector but I haven't been out much in the last few years to do any panning, sluicing, dredging or metal detecting to find any natural gold because of my work schedule and the fact the closest gold deposits are 4 to 5 hours away from where I live, but I still have all the gold I have ever found, a few ounces of natrual gold, from nuggets to fine gold.

Man, it’s crazy these things still pull down that kind of coin even with issues and high miles!

If you think that's crazy you should see what clean 3rd gens go for. One place here has a 2001 with 225,000 for $6500. Another has a damn 2WD for $6900.

Sounds a bit expensive....in Eastern NC (where i'm at) I would see those for around 6 when I was looking.
I bought mine for 9k with 160k on the odo and mine is loaded with everything. However it has some slight surface rust in a few areas (which I will fix with POR15) and it needs some mechanical work (headers, t-belt, etc.) But I would still drive it across country. But it's totally stock and the P.O. didnt jerry-rig anything that I have seen thus far. Which to me was a huge selling point. Never offroad either, I got under it and there wasn't mud anywhere.

Damn! I guess I’m glad I jumped on mine when I had the chance to get it for a decent price last year. I used a CEL as a negotiation tool, along some other stuff, but I got them down to $7k with only 126,000 miles on my ‘04 v8. Guess I did well!
