Tacoma front end conversion
Has anyone replaced the hood, grill, fenders, headlights from a Tacoma and put them on their 4runner? I know 3rd gen 4runners can use Tacoma front ends, just curious if its possible for the newer gens. 4runners just have a more bubbly look to them compared to Tacos

Very interested to know if anyone has attempted this. I think it would look pretty cool 😎

Good thought but i dont think it will work. The fenders on the Tacoma are taller so they won't line up with the "A" pillar. The rad support is different so mounting points will be different.
If you are good with fab work it will probably be ok but im pretty sure it will not be a direct bolt on.

Wow that is impressive! Looks even better than I imagined! The latest Tacoma is wider than the 2nd gen so I’m surprised he got it to work. The 2nd gen would probably bolt up.

Thanks for posting those I was just about to do the same hahah. It looks killer!
I’m not opposed to doing a little fab work, just “finished” my Tacoma cage and tube mounted everything.

Dang the problem now is, I can't un-see that. I'll never look at a 4th gen the same.
Now I'll have to add this to my list of mods.

Last time I saw tha.skid.kid's page it looked like a paper mache project. 4thgenmike's is very well done though.

that conversion looks awesome. the work doesn't look to bad if you really want to do it. Because, if the hood bolts up and is close to those 4runner fender flares then you would just need to make tabs for the lights and grill. Plus alot of work to blend the fender to headlight. Just ask him if the hood bolts up.
Do it

It does look awesome. I wonder if you can run a Tacoma front bumper with it.

So, taking a closer look at 4thgenmikes page it looks like he may just be running Tacoma fenders. He’s got a side shot of the fender flares and you can see where it meets the door doesn’t look correct at all. I’d be curious to see how far off everything is when you start bolting on Tacoma parts.

He said in one of his replies:
"the fiberglass are from fiberwerx made for tacomas. I didnt replace any structural support, used the oem 4runner one, cut, and drill to certain areas. The hood mounts to the 4runner hinges but only 2 of the 4 threaded holes. Once I tube the front it’ll fit better and more aligned."
So Tacoma hood, fenders, grille, and headlights. And compatible/custom front bumper. And repaint. Tacoma's don't have gas shock supports for the hood so that will need fabricated too. Not sure how they latch so hood pins will probably be necessary.
