No pictures to include, but I did replace the front/rear diff and transfer case oil today. Went with Mobil 1 75w 90 and used 6 full quarts, order them on advanced auto parts and got them for $10/quart with free 3-day shipping. My car is at 168k miles, bought it at 116k, and have never once changed either. Also, I have no idea when it was done before I bought the car. Didn't notice any metal shavings like I read about on multiple forums, but the amount of gunk caked up on the drain cap was disgusting.
HUGE thanks to
@ papabeach
for walking me through step by step and letting me borrow your stuff. With the right tools and PLENTY of shop paper towels, it was a very easy and necessary maintenance.

I’ve done the front a few times because of cv jobs. I did the rear recently, came out still sort of clearish brown. I don’t recall ever doing it but I may have had a shop change it the first time I swapped a cv and had to have the front diff drain plug torched/hammered out after I rounded it.
I need to do the TC but I’m unsure of using the Mobil1 like in the diffs because I’ve read too much into it from people’s opinions on the forums. The Toyota stuff for the TC is expensive, so I haven’t gotten around to it. I’ll probably just put in the Mobil1, as it seems this is a popular choice and I don’t think anyone has had problems from it. I do run Mobil1 everywhere else in the rig anyway.
Ok I’ll stop rambling. Are you gonna pick up that tube bumper from the classifieds I saw you asking about?!

Nice build! I'm just getting started, although this is my 3rd 4runner- decided that this may be the one that gets some attention. I just bought a 2007 SR5. Plan to do the usual "go through" to see what's wrong with it, then begin with lift, and a few other things- we will see.
Thanks for sharing your build process- I may follow with some of these ideas!

I thought about it over the weekend, but I think I'm going to wait. I just picked up a new awning last night and I need to replace the actuator motors for my AC, my car only blows ice cold AC right now so I haven't been in a rush to fix it. Plus, I really want to see LFD's 4th gen design and the 4th gen bumper that Lil B's Fab makes is sweet.
Thoughts?

Was actually going to point you towards Lil B’s if you weren’t sold on the other one. If I could go back I’d get that over my plate bumper. I literally saw it a week after I finished welding mine lol.

I was very close to buying the Coastal Offroad back when they did the group buy, but I have zero welding experience and couldn't find someone locally to assist. After looking around more, a tube is the way I want to go. They look more aggressive, have a ton of clearance, and they weigh significantly less. Lil B's seems incredible reasonable as far as pricing goes, now it's just a waiting game.

Sweet rig! Definitely an inspiration for me, I just picked up my 4runner several weeks ago. I also live in Tampa! Would love to tag along with ya'll at the trails one day as I would like to go with an experienced group!

Absolutely! Do you have a Facebook? There's a Florida 4Runner page where there's several members in Tampa (myself included) that communicate on there. Let me know!

Just so long you're out there enjoying it, that's all that matters! And mine is sitting on 3" Toytec/Bilstein coilovers in the front right now, so nothing fancy. I bought those used off this sight. Check out Florida 4Runners on Facebook, we communicate on there a lot and are always willing to meet new members.
