Question Leak - Driver carpet soaked in water

Does anyone have experienced leak in the driver foot well area?
This Saturday I was doing after winter clean on my 2005 4Runner and took the Weathertech mat of to clean. The carpet under was soaked in water. I took at least 2 big cups of water with paper towels and vacuum. Left a car overnight and on Sunday it was all soaked again. We had some rain overnight, so I thought it may caused it. Did the same exercise and took good 2 cups of water out. Left the carpet full of news papers to see if it drips from somewhere. This morning opening the door and newspaper seem fine from the first sight - dry on top, but it was all wet on the bottom and carpet soaked again. This time it was just less then 2 cups I took out, but there was no rain or water over the vehicle since last time I vacuum the water out. It drained from somewhere. Its is water on smell and transparency, didn't try to taste it ;). Drove the truck to work and left newspapers again. Will take a look tonight when come to pick it on the parking after work, but I'm afraid it will be soaked again.
What can it be? Where can the water can drain from? Any ideas?

I would think heater core since you said driver side.

But since you said water ... sun roof drain? .. but that would start from the A pillar. Is your headliner wet?

I just had to thaw out my two front sun roof drains. Fun mess.

Sunroof drain lines

If you have a sunroof I read they drain down by the hinge area of your door. Just a guess.

It's water based on look and smell. Headliner is dry.

Do you have any reference and/or pictures of the drain lines routing and body penetration?

The sunroof has 4 drains, 1 in each corner.

The front 2 drains are 1/2" rubber hoses that run down each A pillar, behind the fender and then down under the pinch welds where they drip. If they get clogged, the headliner usually gets wet as the drain line is only clipped into a plastic nipple at the sunroof. Water backs up to the nipple and leaks out.

The rear 2 run the length of the roof down to the back C pillar. You can see the driver side hose (it's in your jack well). The rear passenger side has no access unless you rip panels out. I was told these drain right infront of the rear mud flaps.

Since you're already researching, just run some weedwacker line or compressed air into each of the drains to be sure.

Fingers crossed, haven't had this problem with my 4runner, but, have had to clean the sunroof drains on 2005 Ford Escape. 2005 BMW X5, (the drains had retracted and kinked in the a frames). I bought some small weed eater string and snaked through the Ford. It's a pretty easy fix, Beemer only took about a half hour, but that's because I was trying to unplug, but, needed unkinked.
