Unfortunately I had to travel few hours for ALL of the parts I got, but IMO it was well worth it. Also nothing is ever rusty down here too which makes the used parts market actually temping lol

Thanks man! Just trying to do things as money allows. I'm still in college and although this is my passion I have a ton of other stuff always going on too.

I wish I could just jump straight into the mods that I want to do, but I need to get a lot of those maintenance items taken care of before I put the fun stuff on. It would look pretty stupid if I had this sweet 4Runner all decked out with a lift, tires, etc. and then it was broken down on the side of the road lol

Nice build plans. I am planning to pick up a 4th gen in the next month or two and start my build. I am wondering how you like the awning so far. Have you by chance had it at the beach or another setting with high winds? I will mainly be taking mine to the beach and trying to figure out what awning to go with for that. Where I am at the wind can be steady at 20mph so just wondering what you think of it so far and if you would go with a different brand like ARB if you bought again.

So far so good! The only issue with it is getting it set up. If its a windy day there would be no way for me to do it by myself, but with a someone else helping its no big deal. Once its up it seems to be pretty sturdy. I also made sure to angle my 4runner to block most of the wind so it just floats over the top of the awning. I haven't even used the little spikes with lines to anchor it either.

Also I bought it used, I really didn't have any preference on brand it was just a good deal and I hopped on it. I didn't do any research on awnings beforehand, so I am not sure if ARB is better than Dobinsons or anything like that

Also I just ordered some SPC UCAs today from Battle Born Offroad. They were having a great sale and I wanted to have these UCAs on hand to install during my lift! All thats left is rear shocks, and possibly a sway bar relocation bracket! Haven't made my mind up whether I want to just ditch the sway bar altogether though. I've heard of plenty of people doing this, but I do a decent amount of highway driving so idk...

This past Friday I had the dealership do a brake fluid flush. They have a machine that does a great job. When I did my 5th gen swap I bled the brakes only enough to get the job done and kept recycling the fluid that was coming out back into the master cylinder. I knew I would eventually let the dealership do the 100% flush so I didn't care too much.

Yesterday I did a steering flush, steering definitely feels much better, and I have peace of mind again. The old fluid was darker than any used oil I have ever seen.

Next up I am doing the timing belt/water pump/radiator/alternator/serp belt tensioner/fan clutch.

After that I'll be doing a center and rear diff flush. For the front I'm waiting till the lift because I'll be removing CVs during that time and the old stuff will leak out anyways. No reason to put new stuff in the front and then have the new stuff leak out a few weeks later.

Not mine, but my gf's mom got new housings yesterday courtesy of me. She wanted the absolute cheapest ones available and I found this set on 1A Auto for $105 shipped. Install wasn't too bad other than that one really low bolt. They seem to very good quality, we should be able to tell whether they leak or not today. (imminent thunderstorms)

Just added some XenonPro led lows and highs today at lunch. 45w variant in white. Seem to be a very high quality light and all the seals on them were absolutely awesome. The fans are massive but also very quiet. I’ll take some pics tonight of the light output.

Edited to say-DO NOT BUY THE LOW BEAMS. They have terrible output in the projector housing. The highs are unbelievably bright though and put out enough light in the reflector housing to make it seem like you have a light bar on your roof.

I will be trying the Auxbeam lows that other have used once I get around to ordering them. The XenonPro Lows will be getting returned though.

Got the rear and center diff fluid change knocked out. Ended up using the Lucas Oil Synthetic 75w-90 fluid for both. Also picked up a set of crush washers/gaskets to service both axles and the center diff. So far there are no leaks and everything seemed identical to stock. I also noticed that the gear oil that came out seemed to be somewhat new still, this was surprising because nothing else on the vehicle has been maintained by the PO. No sign of water intrusion on the rear axle either. All good stuff.

The washer set can be found here

Finally happy with the headlight setup. Auxbeams in the lows and fogs, XenonPros in the highs.

Also finished up the mod allowing fogs to be always on, and for them to be on with high beams as well. When you turn all three sets of lights on at once, it is quite bright to say the least.
