here is a bad shot from the phone and some digital editing of the background.

285/65/18's on Procomp 7028s. No spidertrax. Revtek 3" and 1.25" bodylift. Very minimal trimming of front lower liners.

Sweet! I love black wheels!

Do you know the offset or backspacing of the wheels?

I am putting in frequent 200+ mile days with the STTs, below is a quote from the thread in my sig:

Quote:
The tires are certainly not made for long commutes and I have to assume they will no doubt be louder than almost any AT tire. That is why I sprayed the wheel wells with the rubberized coating! However they are not annoying loud in the least bit in my opinion, even before I sprayed the coatings.
Hope that helps!

http://www.procomptires.com/alloywheels.html
7028-8938, 18x9, bolt spacing- 6x5.5, offset- 0mm, backspace- 5", Load- 2200lbs, weight- 36.5lbs

-didn't need spacers- in fact if I did, it would pivot the tire into the body mount at full turn.

The built in extra spacing is one of the added benefit of going with aftermarket wheels.

Nice choice!

Question Bump!

^^^^^^^^^

What's the verdict?

I am currently looking for the most agressive off-road tire tread that will work on my stock 18"x7.5" 4Runner wheels. If it matters, I previously installed the Daystar 1.25" front spacers to simply level the stance.

Lol, I started this thread over 2 years ago!

I went with the Cooper STTs. They have over 40k trouble-free miles on them and they still have a lot of tread left.

Age of the thread is the reason I bumped it. Was hoping some tire company may have possibly added to their size offerings in the more aggressive treads since then.

I really appreciate you sharing your other thread with the pics. I had seen it several months ago, but paid no attention to the author. Although I don't want to get into the additional work, you have done a very fine job with yours. If I could buy that same Cooper STT in a size that would fit without such drastic measures, I wouldn't hesitate a moment to fork out the cabbage.

Thanks again for the response.

Sounds like it is time to start hitting the manufacturers websites to see what sizes they offer in 18"!

Everybody (and myself included) love the BFG A/T KO but I have personally seen work trucks (natural gas industry - so the miles are hard) run the discoverer stts and have good treadwear at even 70k and love them so my vote goes to them.

Good to hear. I have well over 50k on my STTs now and they still look great!

Re: two year old post !
My 285/65/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers look great and still have about 75% tread at 30k.- I had one sidewall rupture from a wooden stake (someone must have been hunting vampires where I was off-roading- 4 wheel parts replaced it free under warranty)

(EDIT) @ RedKnuckles- I'm running KMC 775 Rockstars though -sure they're not width or spacing offset of stock rims.
