Any lubricate no matter what kind it is will lose it's lubricating properties after a certain time frame, it's just common sense no matter what some manufacturers may say, such as Toyota saying the WS fluid for the 5 speeds being a "Lifetime" fluid.

That being said I don't have to raise my T4R to get under it to change the oil or transmission fluid, there's plenty of ground clearance to get under there without jacking it up, IMHO, if you have trouble getting under your's just just jacking it up a little bit to raise the body slightly but not even close to lifting the wheels off the ground should allow you more room.

If you choose to have some one else do this I would as stated take it to either the dealer or a reputable transmission shop instead of a normal garage, both should have the proper equiptment/machine to do the flush correctly, a gargae may not have the right equiptment to do it properly, but as I stated no matter who does it YOU need to do your own due deligence and check the fluid level after they have done the job.

Thanks again for your sharing your knowledge. I will try to get under it without jack and see if I am comfortable to open the bolt to drain and refill.
I still need to figure out how much quantity to refill of toyota genuine fluid, without over filling or lesser.

Check the fluid level at operating temperature on level ground before draining any out, then after draining what you can out of the pan, add approximately the same amount of new fluid back in unless it was overfilled when you check it, which should be around 2 1/2 to 3 quarts, but I would have 4 to 5 quarts on hand.... BUT eer on the side of a little less when refilling the fluid, then get it back up to temperature and check the level, if low add a 1/4 of a quart at a time until you get it to the proper level.

Make sure you read your owner's manual for exactly which fluid to use, also make sure you follow the instructions for checking the fluid level which should be printed on the dipstick.

Thanks again, I am going to try this weekend and get back with what I was able to achieve.

On the side note, I am still not very sure if there is anything wrong at all with transmission. The kind of gas pedal harshness that I feel goes beyond 10 seconds or as long I keep pressing it mostly till 45mph. If the transmission was bad then it would struggle to shift but I don't think it will keep trying as long as we're pressing the pedal. I am not too good in automatic transmission assessment. But I do catch up if I feel anything not normal. The kind of sensation that I described is attributed more towards harshness of something as if something is rubbing or vibration.
The wheels are stock 16 inch size with tires having around 5000 miles left in them and everything is stock on this model so am little confused with actually able to troubleshoot the problem in first place.

Is the 4runner 4L V6 engine a bit harsh or not smooth as compared to its small suv's or sedans from toyota? Those are butter smooth...

I'm not as familar with the V6 as I have the V8, nor am I as familar with the 4 speed because I have the 5 speed, that being said if the 4 speed has the same issue as some of the 5 speeds then what you discribe does sorta sound like the shudder issue, which is the torque converter having issues locking up, most everyone that has the shudder issues with the 5 speed does the fluid exchange and also adds an additive called "Lubeguard Dr Tranny Instant Shudder Fixx" and most all have either from the new fluid and or the additive have the shudder issue resolved, I'm not saying this is what your issue is but the new fluid and the additive will be a great preventive maintenance for your T4R's transmission!

The additive can also be found at most auto parts stores, if you try it just add it into the transmission along with the new fluid and then drive it for a days to see if it helps as it usually does take a little bit for the additive and new fluid to do it's thing if it is a shudder issue.

I see great, thanks for sharing again. Its not that expensive I am going to add this when I drain and add fluid in transmission. Hoping for the best!!

I inspected the transmission fluid level with dip stick. It came out to be cherry red without any residue. Was not expecting it to be this clean. Then I tried to get under the body to inspect and realized its easy to drain the transmission fluid by opening the plug as its very much doable without using any lift/jack stands. But for engine oil drain it would need some lift as the area seem to be covered with rock guards and there's not much space to get under it without lift.

Coming back to my question of vibrating sensation, looking at the way transmission oil color shows my instinct says it does not seem to be having any problem there.

Since, we're talking about engine/transmission I just wanted to mention that I am consistently getting 17-19 mpg in City and 24-25 mpg on Freeways.

If there were some issues with transmission/engine are these fuel mileage do able?

What other things could be suspected for vibration?
