Confirmed: X-REAS Leak

Saw a bit of drip two days ago: Something isn't right

OK, left front, looked from rearward, could not see the source. The substance smelled suspiciously like hydraulic fluid. ATM is virtually odorless, if I'm not mistaken, so ruled that out. Brake lines were all replaced a year ago, and the reservoir was full, so not that.

When I saw this today, was gonna post a question here:

Decided to have one more look with a flashlight, from under the front bumper. That hose descends from the shock, goes directly to that rusty looking part, which is covered/drenched with the fluid, evidently the source of the leak...ah ha!

I've studied the situation here long enough to know what to do, but I do wonder whether that small segment, connection etc., can be replaced, saving the whole system, at least temporarily...?

Any input/comment, much appreciated...

IF YOU can keep the rest of the Hydraulic Fluid from leaking out and replace the leaking area then you can milk the rest of the XREAS for a few more miles.

You have tons of options to replace the system. I had it done a week and a half ago. If you are in love with the XREAS system I do have a NEW WHOLE OEM system for sale. still in the sealed boxes.

Look on CL or FB market place for a Tacoma front coil and shocks. They should be cheap.

Make sure you DON’T buy the front Tacoma sport coils. Then just pick up some shocks for the rear. Think most of your time will be spend tearing off the XREAS. good luck.

The “X-REAS Delete...” thread linked in my sig may be helpful. Hope the “divorce” goes well and let us know what you decide to do. Mine was final in December and I couldn’t be happier. ;-)

Check out JVC build.
JVC8790's Daily Duty Cruiser "Build" Thread

From what people have said The Tacoma shocks will not fit on the rear unless you replace the lower bushing. The hole is too small on the Tacoma shock. but that's easy enough to mod.

Also I just checked Facebook and there's a set of 2011 Tacoma front coil over for $100. look up - "Tacoma 2011 stock Bilsten shocks front" and they might take less :-)

Search “4th Gen Tacoma suspension swap” here on t4r.org for lots of info on using Taco parts. For example, this thread explains an easy way to change the bushings on the rear shocks from the Tacoma type to one that fits a 4th Gen.
