How to disable front passenger airbag for child seat

Hi,
I need to move one kid to the front.
How can I disable the front passenger airbag for a booster child seat?
It's front facing booster Diono Monterey Monterey(R) XT Car Seat | diono(R) Car Seats & Booster Seats

I tried to follow the procedure from the manual but with no success.

Appreciate any tips.

Did you check to see if the passenger's side air bag is "Off" when no one is sitting in the seat and nothing is on the seat?

If the air bag "Off" indicator is not on when there's no weight or a passenger sitting on the seat then there's most likely a issue with the weight sensor in the seat.

If the air bag "Off indicator is on with no weight on the seat then you most likely put some weight on the seat when trying to install the child seat.

When no one sitting (no weight) the indicator is always OFF.
Do I understand that procedure correctly?
  1. Turn ignition ON
  2. Put the child seat on the passenger seat
  3. Move the passenger seat fully back
  4. Put the child on the seat and fasten seatbelt
  5. From now the airbag indicator should stay OFF

When the kid goes on the seat and the seatbelt is fastened then the indicator from OFF changes to ON.

Does it have sth. to do with a booster seat where the seat is fastened with the child already sitting?
The Toyota procedure is written for so called convertible child seats (younger kids), where the seat is fastened with the cars seatbelt before a kid sits.

What you posted in your last post is not in the same order as what is in the owner's manual, moving the seat to it rearward position is step number 2 not step 3, also the vehicle's seat belt should only be securing the child seat not the child and should be fully fastened before the child is put into the child seat, the child seat should have it's own belt/s to secure the child.

The seat belt indicator should always say "Off".

Follow the steps in the owner's manual exactly and in the proper order!

OK. I tried with the different order. It doesn't work for a booster seat.
It looks like this instruction is for convertible child seats (younger kids) only with their own seatbelts for kids.

I cannot find any mention in the manual for turning off the airbag for the booster seats like this: Monterey(R) XT Car Seat | diono(R) Car Seats & Booster Seats

Does this mean that with the booster seat you can only move the front seat back but the airbag will always stay ON?

Sorry I totally missed that it's a booster seat.

It appears there's no way to manually turn off the air bag from what I have read in the owner's manual, you may try contacting Toyota Corporate and see if they can help.

I did read in an online 2007 manual from Toyota's website that if there a foot or some object stuffed under the seat it may stop the weight sensor from sensing the weight and not turn on the air bag.....BUT I WOULDN'T TRUST A HACK ON THE SAFETY OF A CHILD!

Thanks!
I'm curious, there must be someone on the site who drives with the booster in the front. This is what this forum is
