michelin defender ltx m/s 255/70r17

Hi guys,

2x4 here looking for new tires, michelin defender is most likely what i am going to end up with.

anyone fitted michelin defender ltx m/s 255/70r17 or 255/75/17? if so how do they sit? My concern is that if i put chains on in the back with 255/70/17 they might rub and even more so with 255/75/17.

Anyone have experience with that tire size and chains?

Thank you all.

No experience with that exact tire size, but I used chains on Michelin M/S2 265/70/16 tires on my 3rd gen. Everything was stock. You gotta snug them up real well so they don’t slop and catch on the fenders or other components. Drive a few hundred yards, stop, and re-tighten. Drive slow, drive more, then tighten again. And listen as you drive, they always seem to loosen more and you have to keep your speed down otherwise they rub the fender. As you speed up, with the centrifugal force slinging them outward you start to hear a slight buzzing as they start contacting the fender liner until you slow down. Even with a proper fit.

You’ll need to check the chain manufacturer’s website for proper fit for your tire size. You’re tires are 255s? I thought OEMs are 265.

A quick check on the Laclede Chain website shows that different chains are required for your two stated tire sizes.
