I'm intrigued with the
Multi-Terrain Monitor feature and want to retrofit one in my '07 Sport. Placing and wiring cameras would be simple enough; I'm thinking one on the lower front bumper, one on the bottom of each side mirror, and one somewhere on the rear hatch or spoiler.
The challenge is how to see the live feed, with the choice to toggle between a 4-way split view from all cams or a full-screen view from any one source. My ideal solutions in order of preference would be:
1. Send the images to my iPad, which I have set up for navigation when off-roading. This is by far the best alternative because the mod's usefulness declines along with the available screen size on which the images can be seen.
2. Send the images to my head unit (Kenwood DDX373BT), though it only had one video input for a backup camera;
3. Mount a dedicated screen (though I wouldn't do the mod unless it's removable when not in use).
I've done some searching online and haven't seen any aftermarket kits or splitter-type devices that could feed the images to a iPad or tablet.
We have an immense and impressive range of knowledge and experience here and I'm hoping there's enough interest to collectively come up with a way to do this mod or that someone has seen a kit I've missed.
