Question OEM nav zoom changes whenever car starts up

2008 Ltd. V8. The factory nav used to preserve its zoom between starts/stops, just like its other settings. Lately it no longer restores the previous map zoom level. It changes wildly, sometimes just a tad and sometimes zooming out many levels (never zooms further in...always out). I can adjust it when in use but it doesn't keep the setting.

3 yrs ago I installed jarunner's nav bypass module. Only other mod is the constant 12v power. Both have worked fine for years and I see no reason they would cause problems now.

What might be causing this?

I'd unplug battery first, and if not do a reset through the nav system.
