Front door vapor barrier rattle

Hey all,

I put in some new speakers and the vapor barrier on the passenger front door rattles pretty badly. I tried stretching it back out to make it taught again but still happening. Would replacing it with the genuine Toyota “hole cover” (part 6780135010) be a good idea? Re seal it with butyl tape?

I would try to re-seal it first with new sealant, if that doesn't work, don't waste your money buying the Toyota part, just get yourself some heavy duty plastic sheeting and cut your own new vapor barrier, it doesn't matter if it's black or clear whichever you like, just go to Home Depot or similar store and buy the smallest roll of the heaviest they have, the thickness is measured in "mils", i.e. 4 mil, 10 mil, etc. etc. the higher the number the thicker it is, you can compare it to the thickness of the original to help you decide which thickness to buy and use the original as a pattern to cut the new piece, you will have plenty left over for other uses and it will cost you less than the OEM Toyota piece + shipping and is the same thing.

I’ll try that when the butyl taps comes in. As for the plastic itself, it’s only an $8 replacement and it comes cut and what not. I’ll probably just go with the replacement part from camelback.
