update the look of your 4runner? look no further...

My custom tail lights version 2 are now complete! I'll be testing them over the course of the next several weeks and then will be making them available on my site. Here's a video showcasing them.

Hey man! Really nice idea, you are right it definitely refreshes the look but if I may add something I would recommend to make sure that the LED could be made more straight (you can see what I am talking about at 0:37 or 1:10) it sort of has some "homemade" vibe to it because of this imperfection. I may be the only one who sees that with my OCD lol but anyways thought I should share as it may be beneficial to you.

John, those look very cool, but I’m curious how they look when the turn signal activated. That would have been good to add to that video demo, even if just for a few seconds of it. Is the LED strip integrated with the turn?

Thanks! and yeah the way I usually do it is the first set is the "test" and I'm able to see the benefits and the drawbacks to the design. For the final version I offer that will definitely be on the list of to do items.

Thanks! and the blinker is still the stock bulb for now. I wanted to integrate it into the strip but there is just a lack of space to be able to fit two strips in there. I do hope in the future to build an LED board for the turn signal.

Looks good so far. How bright are the strips compared to the brake lights? They look pretty intense with the parking lights on.

I like the "homogenous" look of the strips rather than seeing each individual LED. Last night I saw a WJ Grand Cherokee that had aftermarket tails with a "C" pattern of LEDs like yours, but looked terrible to me because of it was an outline of red dots rather than one smooth strip of red.

You could convert the strips to "double duty" with these modules LED Switchback control modules VER.1 (for 1 color LED setup) | PAIR – CorsoMotion, I used them in front parking lights so they flash in sync with the existing turn signals.

Thanks! and yes I noticed that too. For me thats part of the testing phase to make sure everything looks proper. I re-opened them yesterday and ended up repainting the housings a gloss black color. The initial color I used was matte which caused the LED's to not reflect as well. Now the brightness is much better. Also Thank you for the link, Those seem well priced and definitely something to consider.
