Need advice - Lift build for 05

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and new to anything to do with lifting a truck, but am going to get mine done for both looks and offroading. I don't rock crawl per se, but I need clearance. I found a 4runner online that I liked the looks of, but am lost in terms of what parts to get to complete this. I have an '05 4unner sport model. I drive it around town and then offroading on mountain roads/trails that can be very bumpy, some big rocks to negotiate.

Here is what i know: I want a 3" lift. I have ordered rocksliders. I want to lower the center of gravity by making the tires further apart. Not sure what this is called?

I need, shocks, tires, wheels, and what else do I need? Here are the details on the truck I found online - I don't know how old the blog was, etc so these may be outdated:

Wheels: FJ 16x7.5
Tires: BFG AT KOs in 265/&5R16
Lift (?): Donahoe Racing coilovers which in the case of the blogger, provided a 2.5" lift and rear 2.0 shocks and 2" lift springs (now known as Icon Vehicle Dynamics).
What else do I need? ......

I would really appreciate your opinions on the above as well as what I'm missing and where I might be able to learn more about this stuff. I have a decent budget for this and want to do it right. Please help?

No problem, I'll check out the link content. The problem will be if it's just a bunch of acronyms and numbers I have no idea what makes one better than another. Hopefully I can find it within those thousands of posts ;)

You could always give Toytec, Wheeler's Offroad, or Metaltech4x4 a call. They specialize in Toyotas and can sell you a variety of parts to get you going based off of your needs.

Or just browse some active builds on here, check out their parts lists if they have one on their first page or click through a couple pages to see what they started with. Honestly that's probably the best way to learn about these parts.

A lot of people (me included) have links to their build threads in their signatures at the bottom of their posts.

Thanks man, I did go through toy tech and we talked through stuff and they gave me a suggested build out. running it by my mechanic to install now. next i need to figure out wheels and tires....pretty intimidating for me...no wonder toy tech is in business. they were super helpful i suppose, but don't really know any brands or quality so going from their one opinion. live and learn.

Hey man, I think you may have spoke to my over the phone maybe not. Did you need more help with a lift or were you talking more about tires and wheels? I can definitely help out if its something you'd like me to look into more for you.
