Replacing rear wiper arm

The middle plastic piece at the base of my rear wiper arm broke so I decided to replace the entire arm, wiper assembly. I had read on this forum a lot of people who had done this and some had broken the shaft. I ordered the assembly and a battery/wiper puller. I figured the $12 puller was worth the investment.

I took the nut off and sprayed everything down with WD40, then Balistrol G96. After sitting a couple of hours I used the puller and it came off in about 10 seconds. I then cleaned the shaft, sprayed it down with a lube/rust preventative and put it all back together in a couple of minutes. Tested it out and the new arm and spring work great. The spring is much better than the one I replaced, which is probably an original from 2006. Maybe the spring being new makes the difference, or perhaps they used a heavier spring for replacement parts in later years.

This one came from Daytona Toyota. Worked perfectly.

This was the tool I purchased to pull it off. Neither the nut nor the shaft were particularly rusted, but it still wouldn't budge. Took less than 10 sec with this tool. I'm sure I'll have other uses for it in the future. In fact I used it yesterday on a rather stubborn part on an AR.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the entire assembly for mine. If all you need is the arm this is a good alternative.

After seeing your reply I edited my post to include all wipers parts, the total there for all the parts you got is a bit less than you paid but would be +/- about the same you paid after shipping is added depending on the cost of shipping.

Great. Thanks. I ordered mine the way I did because I'm a prime member and had my parts less than 24hrs later. I agree always research pricing, because sometimes you find much better value elsewhere, especially if you can wait a few days.

Just an FYI, not sure where in Virginia you're at but if you're close to Richmond, McGeorge Toyota is where I order all my OEM parts from because I very seldom if ever see any other dealers beat their price on OEM parts and if they would sell to you in person for the same price they sell online for, you would save a good bit on shipping.

This is their address and phone number...

Thanks. I am actually just outside of DC, just south of Reston and north of Fairfax so I don't get to Richmond often (95 is a nightmare). But, that info is very good to know. I appreciate the insight.
