Hey Barfy or what ever it is no one is skeered.some of have to work for a living I just got off a 96 hour stretch and didnt have time for the childrens playground. Looking through your older post it appears your from the Toronto area why not admit it your are also deceiving. Yes it does matter because the area is notorious for eating cars away regardless off make and model. 4 years 70,000 miles 4 Colorado winters in the mountains numerous trips to Moab no problems. I have no affiliation with Thorley other than being a customer, who values family owned american hand made quality products .you need to take better care of your ride, Toyota has had a few recalls for rust and frame replacement maybe you should ditch it and cry to Toyota also.

Lol Barfy. Very good.
Despite the grammar, I’ve made it through your (notice the correct your?) post. I’ve repeatedly stated that the roads where I live are salted in the winter. And that’s what you’re (see, now ‘you’re’) trying to ‘prove’ by learning where I live correct? Now what deception are we speaking of?
I’ve purchased a stainless steel product that is not stainless steel. I’m really glad your headers appear to be holding up, regardless of my skepticism of this image. That fact that my headers look completely fine while the air tubes do not actually proves that it has nothing to do with my ability to care for a vehicle. I know that is tough for you to understand. But, you’ll get there one day.
In any event, I wish you a lifetime of failing products that you’ve spent what ever dollars you’ve managed to wrangle during your gruelling 96hr stretch on. Then, maybe, you’ll have a sense of the feeling. Until then, keep trying to go all in for DT headers. I promise you, I will not be the last person to experience this issue.

I don’t get the direct attack on the OP alleging he doesn’t take care of his ride. Even if that were the case, don’t you agree that is basically irrelevant if it’s discussing a supposedly STAINLESS STEEL product that is also ceramic coated on top of that? And that’s not even getting into the whole “lifetime warranty” part... What is being discussed in this thread is deceptive advertising and claims on a product that we paid hard earned money for - period! For all intents and purposes, you should be able to drop these into the ocean, pull them out a few years later, and have them look pretty much the same based on their description and warranty. Infighting helps no one and just brings down an otherwise helpful forum.

Wow, glad to discover all this...
I TIG'd my own repair on the original factory manifolds, because DT was still considering production at the time, but I've always intended to "upgrade" when the necessity returned. So far, mine are still holding fine at 212k, but Whew! Dodged that bullet!
I work with plain steel, chromoly, and stainless tubing every day... The differences in price, and the cost of MIG vs. TIG, is just not anywhere near a big enough deal to justify this.

My expertise is custom bicycles, but my business-neighbor is an auto mechanic. He has the lift and MIG welder, but I do the brazing and TIG welding.
As you know, it's the removal/installation that's a pain in the ass on these things, and I can't help you with that.
I've offered before, in various places at various times: Anyone who wants to send me their cracked factory manifolds, I'll weld the cracks and send 'em back. I'd estimate about $50-$100 per side, plus freight.
If you're in NE Ohio, you can bring the whole vehicle, and my neighbor buddy can do the remove/install. The total (both sides) then would be around $600-$700, in most cases, depending on frozen bolts, gaskets, and parts needed.
My own reasoning at the time, 5 years ago...
Thorley was just then thinking about making them, so that wasn't an option just yet, and I couldn't trust when it would become one.
OEM replacements are outrageous, partly because of the cats, but it made no sense to me to replace cracked ones with expensive known-flaws, only to have it happen again, almost guaranteed.
The cheap stainless aftermarkets had complaints, and seemed like junk, so...
I traded my rotted out XJ for the remove/install labor, and welded the cracks myself, figuring it was worth the risk. So far it's worked out. My welds are still silent after 75k miles, 212k total. Multi-thousand-mile road-trips, offroading, NE Ohio winters, and a heavy foot.

Yea I was was on my 2nd set of factory manifolds from Toyota! Both cracked and I'm working with them to pay for my last bill, but Toyota won't do it, I'm working with the dealer but don't think they are going to do it either. I'm happy with the THorleys and am glad to have something that's doesn't crack and getting me lot more miles to a tank. I'll try to get some photos when I get a break cause it's not easy for me to get on here unless it's my day off. Mine still look good and I blew my buddy away in his 2007 Gx when we did a highway run beside each other.

Email Doug Thorley with a link to the thread. They’ve stopped answering me. I’d also recommend filing a complaint with the bbb if you’ve bought a set.
