Master cylinder leaking....need to fix....help
I have a 2004 v8 limited and the master cylinder is leaking....i have identified the leak as coming from the piston (leaking slightly but still leaking) i ordered a $55 kit to fix this.....that said i've never done this before and have been trying to find a write up....anyhow the local toyata place wants $3200 to replace the whole thing when i really thing it just needs a new o-ring.....anyhow any help is appreciated....thank you

Below is a PDF file for overhauling the master cylinder.
Step #15 is the step that you need to do to remove the master cylinder piston which is where you have the leak and need to replace the o-rings and or seals, etc., then step #47 is where you reinsert the piston in to the master cylinder.
There are many other steps in the document that you don't and or shouldn't have to do since your issue is a leak from the piston/cylinder of the master cylinder.

The PDF I posted above is the one I mentioned in your topic/post of your issues, I was looking for your post to post it there as well, so I'm glad you seen this topic so you have the file to help you with your's!
It took me a while to find the PDF on my computer, and then figure out how to post it.
I have CRS (Can't Remember Shit) so I'm glad I don't have to keep looking for your post since I can't remember the topic!! LOL

I would check your build date, if you have a very early 05 the master cylinder maybe the same as the 04s, my source lists 2 different master cylinders for the 05 and one of them is the same as the 04, but only one for 06 and later, you may want to contact an online dealer and give them your VIN and see if that overhaul kit work for yours.
I haven't found one for the later models, but I will keep looking when I have some more time.
