Blowing the stop fuse every time I touch the brake pedal

Hey all. I am a lurker here but T4R has been a great resource for me over the years and I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

I have a 2005 4Runner Limited with the V8 and the towing package. The only thing that's not stock is the stereo head unit.

Recently all three brake lights stopped working.

I checked and replaced the blown stop fuse in the fuse box over the left fender and it immediately blew again as soon as I tried to test it. As a hopeful guess I tried replacing the brake switch and that didn't fix the problem either.

Next I pulled out the brake bulbs and disconnected the third brake light that's up in the spoiler, just to see if any of that would make a difference. It didn't, the fuse still blows as soon as I touch the brake light.

Finally, I disconnected the two wiring harnesses near the back side of the 7-pin trailer connector. No dice.

History:
I did tow a camper in mid-May and this problem started not too long after that, but it did not occur while I was towing or in the days right after I returned the trailer.

Does anyone have suggestions where else I should be looking for a short?

Found it!

I disconnected the brake controller harness and the fuse no longer blows. I'll play with that later to see if I can figure out why it was causing a problem, but thankfully I can safely drive my truck again.

Cheers!
