I was about to say the prices in the PNW are ridiculous as there is a high demand for them and very few for sale. There are maybe 4 or 5 used 4runners for sale in this area and none are sport editions. I had to widen my search for a 200 mile radius to find one in a color that I want.

I ran a search just now and there are 14 4runners 2006-2009. Five are 2wd, most are Limited or sr5 and are not in my two color choices. There is one black sport with over 180k miles and it's 151 miles away. It is cheap though, $11,995 but that's a lot of miles and it's been reported as having had a minor accident and reported as being blue on carfax several times but it's black.

So this one in Auburn is all there is. I was going to replace my 2010 sr5 but many are priced higher than I want to pay and they don't have the options mine had (just about all options).

Not sure carfax can be faked with a carfax URL.

Here are pictures of the undercarriage. What do you think? The build sheet for this Sport edition MSRP was $40,920

There is also this 2007 with low miles. It's not a sport model though: Stock# 27205 USED 2007 Toyota 4Runner | Portland, OR | Gladstone Mitsubishi

I hate to dash your dreams, but that is not what the underside is supposed to look like. the paint on the gas tank skid is supposed to be smooth, not matte. It looks like someone went to extreme lengths to hide the fact that everything is rusted underneath that truck and they painted over it. The fact that the driveshaft is rusty only on one side indicates that they parked it and painted it once without moving it and could not get paint on the other side of the rusted driveshaft, turning the driveshaft away from you on the picture (but not all the way because we can all see the rust) seems really shady to me. I would not entertain their offer of 16k. Perhaps 9k... Thats what I paid for mine in CA with 98k miles on it and no rust with the vvti v8. Everyone seems to want a 4th gen 4runner now and they are starting to pop up with scammy histories like this one.

Hell you can see the overspray on the muffler. I would walk away, but if your dead set on looking at it, take a flat blade screw driver and beat the crap outta that frame. Get an old blanket and get comfortable under there. Take a hard look at the gas tank straps as well as small fasteners and brackets under there that might show some rust. They might not have gotten all of them painted. I do this when looking at all vehicles. I saw an FJ here in Florida that was literally flaking apart. Even the axle tube was flaking with rust. Be VERY cautious!

The dealer appears to specialize in high mileage Canadian imports which may cause maintenance and registration issues down the road and may make resale difficult.

There have to be nicer examples out there. Widen your search to places that you can hop a cheap flight to.

I personally would steer clear of this 4Runner. Anytime a vehicle is sold over the border all maintenance records, carfax history, insurance database is wiped clean on said vehicle. It's called "washing a title". It's a way of clearing a salvage or problem vehicle of the history and selling said vehicle at market value somewhere else. I would stay away from any stealership that buys vehicles from over the border.

Here is a good deal in Sacramento:

05' Toyota 4runnern SR5 - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale

I know for a fact that cars can't rust here and I know where in the area that pic was taken. I would take this over that rust bucket scam someone is trying to sell you.

Don't forget to make sure the 4wd actuator works.

I bought the SR5 with 117k miles. Now it needs tires and a lift and to put my stereo back in.

It doesn't have a lot of options - has manual seats. It does have 3rd row of which I don't need or want.
