2007 4Runner 4.7 V8 Motor Oil
I like to know if anyone is using 0w-40 or 0w-30 motor oil.
I’ve found that Schaeffers Supreme 9000™ Full Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-40 has 60%+ PAO base oil! It very hard to find a True synthetic with group IV and Group V base oils with out large amounts of Group III base oil with is highly refined mineral oil.
I’ve found that the 4Runner only allows 5w-20 and not 0w-20 motor oil in all that are pre 2010-2011 4runners.
Please let me know what motor, manufacturers & oil viscosity you put in your 4.7L V8 motors.

I run 5w-20 Rotella Gas Truck in mine. I've run Rotella products in all of my other cars and have nothing bad to say. Available at Walmart too!

I used Rotella T6 & Mobil Delvac 5w-40 esp in my 2015 Ford 6.7 Powerstroke. When Rotella T6 changed their formula I i found it to cause the truck to run poorly and unfortunately my favorite, Mobil Delvac, was no longer approved because of lower phosphorus levels. I’m not a fan of Shell motor oils any more and have heard of many people using them in gasoline engines.
Redline, Schaeffers, Motul and Lubrication Engineers oils are my favorite brands as of now. I like PAO and ester in my synthetic oil and haven’t liked the GTL base oils Group III or III+.
Schaeffer’s Supreme 9000™ Full Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-40 is the factory filled motor oil in all dodge/Chrysler SRT Engine because of it very high level of true synthetic base oils 60+% PAO group IV base oil. The highest I’ve found from reading all differently oil SDS sheets.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30, same thing I run in all my cars except the diesel. Has been buttery smooth for me with annual changes since I don't even exceed 5k a year.

I use Rotella T6 in my diesel and I'm a huge fan of it. When I saw they came out with "gas truck" I was pretty excited about using it, but many test that I have seen it doesn't hold up to its reputation with the gas version.
As of right now I can't get behind that "Gas Truck" line of Rotella, but who knows maybe they will fine tune the formula.

Here's my last oil analysis on M1 5W-30 High Mileage. I've only put about 22,000 miles on the 4Runner since owning it, so no idea what was used before me. I'm a little skeptical about running to 8,500 miles for the interval, but numbers don't lie and the engine is running fine!

Report looks good! Any particular reason you chose to go with M1 HM? Out of curiosity, how many miles are on the engine?

Honestly, it's just kinda what I have used in the past with my BMW and it did well on the reports with that car. It is pretty cheap and available at Walmart as well.
I just rolled over 181K, so a little up there but not too high

I haven't done one yet just bought the truck but I'm assuming I'll just use Mobil 1 full synthetic it is what I've used in all my vehicles 4 years and never had an issue....

I probably should do a Blackstone test at some point, but I’ve been running M1 0w-30 in my ‘04 v8, and it quieted it down quite a bit from whatever was in it when I bought it. Going on 2 years now and it runs super quiet and smooth in all extremes of temps here in MA, so I’m happy with it.

Mobile 1 full syn motor oil has been reformulated over the past few years. They are using a lot of group III base oils and much less group IV if any.
It's all about cost since castrol sued to get group 3 base pil, highly refined mineral oil, categorized as a synthetic. That's why all brands offer ”full synthetic” at low prices. They don't need to use true synthetic base oils to have a fully synthetic oil. German and Japan group 3 base oil are not allowed to be called synthetic by law.
OFF TOPIC-
Germans are the ones who developed synthetic oil during WW2 because they had low oil reserves. The nazis were pretty sick group of people but they did develop amazing technology...still do to this day. Not much that is made in Germany is of poor quality.
German tools wiha, wera, nws, witte, STAHLWILL, Gedore, RENNSTEIG and (may favorite) Knipex (they make 60% pliers in the world) all are some of the best hand tools manufacturers. Also rebranded for irwin and fluke hand tools.
I've has much better UOA with better synthetic base oils plus on my diesel is very hard on oil. Rotella T6 is only uses group III base oils only does and not any PAO (group IV). Check the motor Oil SDS sheets and you can get an idea of what base oils are used in most API certified motor oils. Most 0w-## oils have very good IV & V synthetic base oils. RedLine, liquimoly and motel have great fully synthetic motor oils.

On the subject of motor oil, Pep Boys currently has a $15 mail-in rebate offer for some synthetic brands including M1. You're looking at around $16 for a 5-qt jug of M1 after the rebate.

Volvo guy, but the turbo motor seems to really like the T6, helps quiet down the lifters a lot.

This is my UOA using Redline 0w-30. Went almost 10k miles with majority being city and the highway portions being higher speed 90ish multihour runs.
Pushed it right to the limit and will be retesting at 7500 for the current fill.
Will be switching to Amsoil or similar 0w-30 at the next change.

You posted it was 0w-30 but the report reads 10w-30 which is correct?
