Hoping all the OEM studs cooperate. So far Sea Foam Deep Creep is working. Only broke one header nut loose so far though. Propane might be in my near future.
Hi, what kind of socked do I need to remove the existing studs?
They say it's a Hex LOBULAR, it that the same as torx?

Thanks,
I live in Florida so my corrosion factor wasn't bad. Not sure if it's a Torx or what it might be called. I'm no help to you because I used a standard 6 point 7mm socket for the OEM studs. Not the right tool, but I tapped the socket on the end of the studs with a side ways hammer and they all broke loose.

I also put another shot of Sea Foam Deep Creep on the studs after the manifolds were removed, and let them sit for another hour before I started on them. Only one stud came out initially when twisting the nuts off, which had me worried with 15 of them staring me in the grill, but like I say my corrosion factor is nil and none here in Florida compared to the Snow belt. Hope it goes smooth!

Thank you, it kind of helps anyway.
After further digging I found that the pattern is indeed Torx and the socket required is known as E-Torx or E-Star.

The more I drive it the better it seems to run. Don't know if the ECU has been learning or why, but I swear it runs better now after a few hundred miles.
The Gibson muffler is nearly perfect except the interior noise at certain speeds/loads around 2,000 rpm. I may have to add a resonator or change mufflers to move it up or down for towing. Light loads & most cruising it seems quieter than stock.

I added back the stock resonator before the gibson, and then did a 1/4 wave resonator behind the muffler. It's probably quieter than factory under all conditions now.

Can you PM me who you got quotes over the internet from? I don't need my old cats.

I used autocorebuyer.com.

I got a better quote from rockawayrecycling.com for some of the parts, and they matched the better prices while honoring their quotes that were higher. I just sent the quote from Rock Away to them and they honored it without hassle. Super responsive in texts, and my payment came through paypal within a couple hours of them receiving my fedex package.

Both companies will accept texts of photos of the cats and their part numbers to give you a quote. I can't guarantee you'll get the same prices I got, as the precious metals market changes frequently and your cats may not be the exact same ones as mine. You've got to located the stamped part numbers on each one and send that for them to give you an accurate quote.

So it’s finally all here and in about 10 days I’ll be dropping my girl off for some much needed maintenance and full exhaust treatment.

Doing a complete timing belt kit, upgrading battery cables to 0ga and 4ga, new battery and terminals, and DG Headers/midpipe and customized to be a true dual with 7” race mufflers and x-pipe!!

I will have to cut the mid pipe and really looked at getting a custom one built but with parts and labor wasn’t saving enough to offset what I’m getting my guy to do all of this for.

Also went with stage 8 locking header bolts, all new O2 sensors with bypass for the rears, and silicone radiator hoses from HPS. All material is 304 stainless although I think one of the DG items might in fact be 409.

NICE! I've been pleased with my HPS radiator hoses. Obviously not any performance gains from it, but they were a perfect fit and haven't leaked. I reused the factory clamps as I read they provided more even clamping force than the type HPS sends out.

The DT headers and y-pipe are mostly, if not all 409 stainless. The headers are ceramic coated inside and out, though, so there's that extra level there.

EDIT: It's just the y-pipe thats 409. The headers are Fully 304. I got my lines crossed.

The only 304 stainless 4runner exhaust stuff I know of is the URD Race Y-pipe and their catback exhaust.

As an aside, today was the first time I've needed to hit the gas full blast since my install, and holy cow, that top end power is very noticeably higher. It's one thing to intentionally floor it and try to feel the power difference, and it's another to get caught off guard by the power.

Looks good, going to be loud though!

I have 2 OEM cats, an x pipe, and 2 Magnaflow 18"x6" dia mufflers and its medium volume. I'd be interested to hear it if you want to post a quick video when its done.

Is anyone else still waiting on their titanium header bolts? Just me? I texted Jason but no response.

It’s gonna be a little in the obnoxious side I think but I’ll love it. I’ll definitely post some before and after pics and videos for the difference. Also forgot to add the SAI bypass coming in the mail today. 👍🏽🙌🏽
