FYI... Bad bushings on the control arms can create a wheel shake, especially when braking.

Don't forget to check your wheel bearings. I had odd intermittent wheel wobble, like a bad wheel balance, inconsistent brake pedal behavior... I always listened for bad bearings, didn't make a sound. pulled them off and had at least 1/16" play! lol
Drives like a new truck now.

Update. Drivers side brake caliper was seized. The old calipers only lasted 20k miles from when the dealership replaced them

Well I’m still having steering wheel shakes between 60-70mph. The shakes are not violent just very annoying. I keep taking it back to Toyota where the tires were put on and they keep telling me the front tires were off by 10 grams and they will road force balance them again Cant figure out my steering wheel shaking. Also I keep getting told everything is “tight” up front. The shaking is very inconsistent it seems to shake for a couple minutes and smooth out and then start shaking again. Is this just a normal trait of the 4Runner?

What tires are you running? I've heard of KO2s having issues like this very frequently.

same problem, and same year. started immediately with new tires. have had them rebalanced 3 times. had them replaced with a different set entirely. it feels like old biased ply tires, when they flat spot. its much worse in the mornings, and when the tires are cold. not nearly as bad in the afternoon. tire guys are as confused as I am. I personally did tires for a few years, and have a good idea what it takes to make these things run smooth. this one has us all baffled.

stock size and tread tires. I couldn't feel ANY difference between the first set, and the current ones. its annoying as hell though...

You know mine is worse in the mornings also! That’s so strange. I have new shocks and front cv axels so can’t think of what it could be.

I check and the weights haven’t moved or fallen off after the past 3 balances.

I threw mine on the lift and ran it in gear. the wheels are rock solid. not a bit of runout. but the tires have a definite bounce to them. the tire shop is going to order me yet another set of tires. this time a completely different brand.

I was quite happy with the OE tires, and that was the only reason I went with them again.
